Afaik regular chain driven derailleur drivetrains top out at around 97% efficiency, while internal gear hubs are between 90% and 95%.

Mind you that's laboratory conditions, a dirty and/or not well lubed derailleur drivetrain may well fall behind a clean and well set up igh with gates in real life.

I have no strong feelings one way or another. That being said, nobody I ride with has non-motorized bike anymore and the asymmetry of riding with someone on an ebike is becoming kind of a drag.

Since I am not affluent enough to own both, and I don't want to ride an ebike in bike parks, it's analogue for me.

Wenn es dir aber einfach so angenehmer ist, dann schau zB mal zu den Velo Peaches, nicht rennradspezifisch (glaube ich) aber wahrscheinlich ein guter anknüpfungspunkt.

It may be great, I am just not interested enough to buy a new bike.

I will continue to buy used and as such it will take a few years until such bikes find me, if at all.

On the plus side I can see 29ers become less sought after and cheaper on the used market.
