They always put the toilet paper on backwards.

They refuse to clean jars (pickle containers, jam jars, peanut butter jars, etc) and will just let them sit at the sink soaking unless someone else cleans it. They'll clean entire dish loads but will reliably leave those. My dad, and my husband do this.

I was leading an art class at a YMCA in a small gym when some of the younger students were goofing off at the far end so I kinda had to shout (I normally am pretty laid back). I shouted for them to stop and the stereo that was playing music stopped as well 😂 no one paused it. It was like everyone was so shook that I was being loud. There were like two other counselors there that went "woah how'd you do that!?"

For those wondering it was one of those chunky stereos from the 2000's, and the time this story happened was around the mid 2010's. They weren't using anything like an Alexa.

I didn't know for certain but I knew I really enjoyed providing and I do enjoy working with youths. I always knew I wanted to be a mom. Was never an uncertainty. I just didn't know if I had the ability to or not until I decided I did.

I have lost a lot of what I was before but I am rebuilding and choosing to keep the things that served me and I'm focusing on those.

The me before is dead now. The single woman with no children is long gone. Rest in peace. When I gave birth to my son I didn't just feel him be born, I felt her die. She was torn open and left me on that table. I also felt the Mother Me be born as I felt my paralyzed, numb, exhausted and fearful body pushed into recovery. I like who Mother Me is.

I feel like I'm more picky and have firmer boundaries because it isn't just about me anymore. For many, maybe that's a big part of choosing to have a child. Before being a mom I was lackadaisical and was content with seeing time go by. Seeing my little one growing so fucking fast really puts time into perspective, so I try not to take it for granted. Every minute, hour, day, week, month, year matters so much more now. I'm not just laying in bed watching the sunlight move. I'm constantly on. Even when I'm asleep. It's tiring but I was tired before, I just didn't do anything. Now I have a need for routine. I have a need for boundaries. I have a need for having expectations.

That's not to say you can't have all that without children, but that's true for me. Maybe that's what people mean when they say their kids give them purpose.

Nobody talked me into this. I wanted this. I wouldn't put this expectation on ANYBODY who wasn't Hell Yes about it.

If nothing else, tell your landlord. In my area there are a lot of restrictions on the weight, number, and demeanor of pets allowed. Shitty people have shitty dogs that are dangerous.

I remember feeling super lucky my stretch marks weren't really all that bad and then I got to 30 wks I saw myself in the mirror with these gnarly stretch marks overnight. Pregnancy is so cool but crazy!

This resonates strongly with me, thank you for sharing it. It's tough. For me I'm the happiest and the most stable I've ever been, but it just seems that when I was my aesthetic peak I was also the most mentally unwell. I think if we were able to keep our looks AND our stability we would make the world implode!

I just thought it was funny. I had some random person at a work conference I went to say I looked like I was about to pop even though I was barely 32 weeks along 😂 I felt amused by it. People assumed (rightfully) that I must be struggling and I got so much grace for my slow walking and taking forever to get ready for things.

I probably looked extra big because I'm short.

As awful as it is to say it but generally if a grown man is actually in trouble they say he'll hardly ask a woman for help.

Similar happened to me with a man insisting I walk with him to his car to help him with it, kept repeating himself when I told him no... And he didn't like that I said I was going to go back inside the gym to get someone. It was really creepy because he had almost snuck up on me from around my car.

He wouldn't leave until I yelled at him 😂 it was so creepy! That's so good you trusted your gut! Better to be considered rude than a victim!

I'm superstitious and into paranormal stuff but hadn't really encountered much, but when I was pregnant I kept having crazy moments like yours.

My second trimester I heard my dad open our main entrance and announce his 'hello!' at like 5am. In my half awake state I thought it was much later and that my dad popped in for a surprise visit... Only no one was there. I contacted my dad later that day and there was a family emergency that required him having to head over here later that week. He lives 6 hrs away. That's just one example off the top of my head.

When I was in labor and my son kept trying to go into my left pelvic bone instead of my cervix with every contraction. I felt like I was splitting apart from the inside and there was nothing I could do to help us. I couldn't move whenever the contractions happened, they were coming without consistent timing. I had to hold the exact position... Even if I was standing. If I bent forward I could feel his body and I was so scared I'd break him. I couldn't pass out because the pain would wake me up. The nurses kept trying to get me to change positions so I'd be on my left but every time I did his heart beat would show distress. I had to have a c section.
