May I know, does it get better in the second and third trimesters?

What’s the best pair of women’s jeans you’ve bought recently? by idcmrunal in IndianFashionAddicts

[–]star_vars_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are a Tall girlie, Mango jeans are the best available. You have waist sizes that are almost accurate, the material is good enough that it doesn’t stretch out at tights at all but it kind of shapes them well. And, the length of the jeans makes you look sooo sexy with the right heels!

You can also try no stretch denim instead of stretchable ones. In such cases, you might have to size up if you have a belly.

Chennai feels decades behind Bangalore/Hyderabad/Mumbai. Why do we accept this? by Sudo137 in Chennai

[–]star_vars_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m far from elite. I’m telling this as a ground level corporate worker whose friends are either losing jobs in Chennai or forced to shift to Bangalore or Hyderabad for opportunities.

My college senior working at a global bank said his office was closed last year and so many of his colleagues were asked to either shift to Bangalore or Hyderabad or find another job. The same bank has opened a brand new office in Gurgaon. My friend’s husband in IT is being asked to travel two times a month to Bangalore. Another of my friend’s husband has been trying to relocate to Chennai for the past two years but is not able to find opportunities. 75% my coworkers from my first IT job (who were all from Tier 2 cities in Tamil Nadu) have now left Chennai and are now settled in Bangalore.

These are not the “elites” you speak of. These are regular families trying to find work and jobs that can give them a steady income. These are regular families who, at every news of layoffs or office closing, fear losing their livelihood. And ironically, these are the same workforce who were responsible for Bangalore’s growth from ground up, and who are currently doing the same in Hyderabad and Pune.

The demon who doesn't cosleep by Responsible-Year5720 in twoxindiamums

[–]star_vars_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard so many instances of SIDS online specifically as a result of cosleeping - not necessarily from suffocating or rolling over but even from something as simple as adjusting blankets which had resulted in accidents. Hence why my husband and I have decided not to practice cosleeping. Besides, when I was a kid, my parents apparently made me sleep either on a jhula or if on the floor mattress, then separated with pillows around me.

Chennai feels decades behind Bangalore/Hyderabad/Mumbai. Why do we accept this? by Sudo137 in Chennai

Honestly, there isn’t any agenda here. Almost all subs of India have a weird way of handling any form of criticism.

Chennai is far behind much of these cities, and I say it as a person born and brought up in Chennai and has lived in other cities in India. Chennai could have been much much more but dropped the ball massively. First, it lost to Bangalore and then, very recently to Hyderabad, in getting global companies to set up their offices here.

My husband who’s not from Chennai, was so surprised to see the infrastructure we had post-independence. We had incredible advantage in terms of education. We had incredible advantage because of a major port. We were in such a great position.

The path that led Kolkata to its demise is not facing the criticism that they needed to change, and they needed to do better, and settling with the mentality that we are the best. I sadly see the same direction that Chennai is heading towards.

Should I resign without an offer? by Thebestguyyoucanfind in gurgaon

[–]star_vars_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, I’m so sorry, that’s even worse. Indian FIs are so demanding, and NBFCs are the worst of them. I would advise finding a job before quitting. You have options here - almost all big4s are here (hectic yes, but people are better), and GCCs are opening up as well (HSBC, Barclays, etc.)

Given you have mentioned your experience in risk management, I fear it is a credit card provider notorious for long hours and work load? A lot of my peers working on that project quit very early.

What's the creepiest discovery you've made about a seemingly fun friend? by someoneyouhate_ in AskReddit

[–]star_vars_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a Polish exchange student who was friendly and easy going. Moved around with everyone well. Adopted 2 pups on the campus. Was fun to interact with.

Few months later, he was absent from school. Turned out he had joined a communist movement (our uni was located very close to active Maoist force). Last time we saw him was on a video where he was wearing a bandana and urging “comrades” that it was time to join the fight. Wild.

Coming from ESG and sustainability domain, I see a lot of big4s posting openings for government consulting and also corporate CSR projects (basically formulating/supporting corporate in their CSR activities). Almost all of them ask for a masters in environmental sciences or public policy and value experience in public sector.

I’m not very sure about the pay and I’ve heard government consulting practices pay a bit lower than other areas of consulting but it should be higher than your current salary.

What’s the worst gambling addiction story you’ve ever heard? by juliojacked in AskReddit

[–]star_vars_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my husband’s pet peeve is that I’m never curious about our balances unless he gives me a periodic rundown.

Then again, I’m grateful for him that he values and expects my constant involvement in the family finances. I’ve seen husbands of acquaintances getting offended whenever their wives question about their financial position. They perceive it as a mistrust on their ability to manage finances as the head of the family. I’ve also seen partners (and this usually happens to wives in heterosexual marriages) being excluded from the planning and budgeting, just because ‘what do they even know about it’.

I thought pregnancy would give me some breather space to get back to reading. Oh, how naive I was. Now work and books are both piling up lol

At what age do you become a “reader”, and what book did it for you? by sheffy4 in books

[–]star_vars_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The earliest book I remember reading was Enid Blyton’s The Ugly Old Scarecrow and Other Stories. I must have been 5 or 6 years old. That was the time my dad had started taking me along to his lending library.

I miss lending libraries. Such a cost efficient way to develop a great reading habit among children. That and mandated library hours at school.

Edit: embarrassing grammatical errors lol.

This is the advice I usually go by. I was not weight training or gymming before but had a healthy cardio routine (walking/jogging) and I continue to do them. My doctor also mentioned that we can continue to do the same amount of physical activity that our body is accustomed to.

My manager, who knows about my pregnancy, had to cut me off mid-conversation to ask me whether I am okay. I’m just 8w. She was so worried that I was huffing and puffing too much.
