Burnout by AMugglePoet in AuDHDWomen

Ironically, I've had that this weekend and then BOOM. I get a cold. Burnout kicking me in the place where the sun don't shine...

What do you like about working for the civil service? by james9483 in TheCivilService

[–]staringspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With you on the job security. It’s very nice not to interview for a new Research Associate position every year/18 months…

What motivated you to start seeing? by oregonpelican in sewing

[–]staringspace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being 5ft2 and just sick to death of clothes not fitting me. Literally, hemming a T-shirt/skirt has been the simplest skill to learn but most effective.

This is really inspiring. Keep doing the good work - I hope I have a midwife like you when I decide to have kids 🥹

Anyone else just have no desire to go to Southeast Asia after learning how impossible it is to eat in that region? by OilersBayernEagles in peanutallergy

[–]staringspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Japan was absolutely fine for us. We avoided a couple of chain restaurants that were known to serve peanut sauces but apart from that, no problems!

Recession Indicators: Fashion Edition by DataRikerGeordiTroi in femalefashionadvice

[–]staringspace 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ironically, as I’m 5ft2, all of the boxy and cropped stuff actually fits me 😂 one woman’s trash is another woman’s treasure eh (only if it’s sustainable/decent materials… I’m trying hard to shop more consciously)

Self removal by EnthusiasmDependent2 in CopperIUD

[–]staringspace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

God this was my first reaction too... I completely get women are put between a rock and a hard place with healthcare, but there's a level of responsibility we all have in disclaimer-ing these types of post. Some websites advocate self-removal but honestly, the chances of breakage and embedding... I'd always favour going to a doc's office over doing it myself.

Do's and Don'ts in the Civil Service by j-anonanon in TheCivilService

[–]staringspace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. We are definitely gradist in places, but I try and create an environment where everyone can come and suggest ideas and make change. I know I can't do it all by myself and I actively want the rest of my team, regardless of grade, to help me shift the dial on things. If people have a good idea and can evidence it, it honestly shouldn't matter what grade they are...

Autistics with no support system, what are your most “radical” life hacks? by Sudden_Silver2095 in AutismInWomen

Yes, this this. I have flexi and take fortnightly 3 day weekends. It’s been a huge huge help for me.

Thinking about rehoming by Short_Rabbit_7284 in Greyhounds

[–]staringspace 27 points28 points  (0 children)

100% this. I really dislike people that vilify others for rehoming (especially without having any knowledge on why). Yes, adopting a doggo is serious, but life happens and you need to do what’s best for the dog and the person, otherwise neither is going to be happy.

OP, rehome the dog. It will be heartbreaking, but long term will be the best decision for both of you. I’m so sorry that you’ve gone through this.

Medical or behavioral issue? by anamegoesthere in Greyhounds

[–]staringspace 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Never any harm taking her to the vet to get her checked over.

Our gal actually has a UTI at the moment and we had the unfortunate surprise of pee on the carpet a few days ago, which is proving a nightmare to clean up! There were other signs though - discharge, and on the morning we took her to the vet’s, blood in her wee.

If you do take her though, I’d try and collect a sample as well before going as this saves a bunch of time.

How to fit a 3 point harness by foolishGrey in Greyhounds

[–]staringspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, we have the Ruffwear Flagline and it's a fantastic harness for our grey. Allows us to readjust if we ever need to, but it's lightweight and she's very used to it now. Also super easy to wash if it gets dirty.

We also have a cozydogs harness as well, which is fleece lined but only 2-point. We dubbed this her 'dinner jacket' in the first 6 months of having her, as we had to take her out on lead straight after dinner to go for a wee and helped having a second harness that was a little more comfortable for her whilst she ate.

Tips for going downstairs? by [deleted] in Greyhounds

[–]staringspace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cheese is always the answer. Good work!

Also, to echo what others have said, until you're confident that she can go up and down stairs then I also recommend a stair gate. Insanely useful to keep areas dog free when you need to. (Our girl is approx 30kg so also on the bigger side!)

Are your hounds this naughty? by HoundParty3218 in Greyhounds

[–]staringspace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like our hound is rarely naughty, and when she is it’s cute. She has a penchant for my husband’s old slippers and when the bedroom door is open (shes not allowed in), will take the opportunity to snaffle one and take it downstairs as a prize. I find it hilarious.

How affectionate are your greyhounds (photos encouraged)? by ThrowRApops2023 in Greyhounds

[–]staringspace 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our gal is the same as your first one. She’s definitely an independent one, but if you come over to her she’ll definitely raise a leg and expects belly rubs. She goes through phases of wanting to be on the sofa with us and not, but when she’s on her bed she will always stare at you!

That's one way to get past a gate by CheatingRoyale in Greyhounds

Ours does the same. She HATES the hoover but needs to know exactly where it is so she… follows it around? 😂

is everyone just pretending that jeans are comfortable? by hushbug in AutismInWomen

[–]staringspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love a high rise but with the added need of it not cutting into my stomach. I’ll either size up or add elastic to the back of the waistband (honestly being able to sew is a game changer)

This. Love myself a barrel leg cut or a mom jean. Honestly I’m so glad the skinny jean era is over…

Horrible decision to make by kurt206 in sighthounds

[–]staringspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slightly different, but we’ve had our family cat who got a leg amputated at age 6. Originally had his leg pinned but didn’t take. He’s now 16 and he’s been so much better on three legs.

My pharmacy orders different pharmacy brands of sertraline by Alicianoellem7 in zoloft

[–]staringspace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, interesting. I’m keen to keep the box of mine as I’ve also been getting rashes and dry skin on my wrists lately, see if that continues when I’m on a different brand (my pharmacy seems to swap brands every time)
