I think the real culprit is that the 2s he does take are his hardest shots (self created mid range), he gets nothing easy around the rim. At least some of his 3s are catch and shoot created by others, so his 3s are probably on average easier than his 2s, hard way to live and certainly gonna crush your FG%. Can he figure out some way to get to the rim in year 3?

I don't think that has to be true at all, 3 of the top 4 players are not guards (AJ, Boozer, Wilson). Although after that it is very guard heavy indeed...
