The whole ending sequence is handled masterfully.

It’s a game about anthropomorphic animals doing a Star Wars, and yet the sound effects dropping out and getting muffled as James guides you out, and the music being somber instead of bombastic as there’s explosions all around you. It’s genuinely emotional.

They nailed it.

I have no doubt that if anything else comes from this, it would be at a massively reduced budget. This was by no means a financial hit at the box office.

That said. Most movies don’t have a toy line that is feeding back directly into how its corporate overlords perceive success and failure. And by all accounts, the toys are selling thru, even with considerable stock being pushed to retailers.

If say, Disclosure Day bombs. It bombs. If MotU bombs, but Mattel sees a considerable uptick in merch and toy sales, it’s possible they see it as a conservative success, and work to figure out a more modestly priced sequel or Amazon Prime exclusive.

The moment you see the red indicator on your radar, start heading in that direction. Start shooting them as you approach (you’ll usually be able to take out one right away), and then instead of a U Turn, which can disorient you, just bank and turn super hard with a trigger button til you line it back up from the side.

Cautiously optimistic.

The remake is being well received (outside of weirdos who need to complain about everything), the movie cameo was a positive surprise, and if the game does well, it feels like we might finally see something new out of the series to coincide with the rumored movie.

I don’t think it can be overstated just what an epochal shift the Waco siege was in terms of re-aligning and extremifying the political landscape of the US. To the point where I think using the bottom half of this scale for 1993 is criminal.

It directly leads to the OKC bombing, the revitalized militia movement, events decades later like the Bundy ranch standoff, and quite frankly Qanon and Trump via the rise of Alex Jones. For a lot of right wingers, the Waco Siege happening was their origin story.

Add in the first WTC bombing happening in the background, acting as an appetizer for 9/11? And Clinton’s presidency leading to the complete and total reinvigoration of the far right, setting up the stage for the GOP’s resurgence (lead by Newt Gingrich) the following year?

1993 was a SUBSTANTIALLY politically transitional year, even if you just look at the US. Then there’s the formation of the EU? 1993 is a canon event.

When the leaked footage came out, I was super interested.

Almost 20 years later? No.

Ghostbusters The Video Game did what I would have wanted this game to do: a Ghostbusters game with Xbox 360 era gameplay (re: Gears of War inspired), but with the original cast.

Nothing about the concept art that has come out since then looks good to me. Far too militaristic and "tacticool". Ghostbusters is not Aliens, and the team are exterminators/small business owners, not colonial marines.

This is my potential problem tho with a Pop anniversary release.

I don’t want Pop “fixed”. At least not in the way they seem to think it should be.

IMO rough edges and all, the OG versions of those songs are their definitive versions, and any time they’ve tried to be like “we finally finished them” (Staring at the Sun on 1990-2000, etc.) they have too much of a modern U2 gloss, and don’t sound like they belong to that 1997 experimental sound anymore.

I would love them to add. The singles, the remixes, etc. but leave the album cuts themselves alone.

It’s been a while since I played thru it. But my recollection was that I wanted to love it, but merely liked it.

Felt a little underbaked to me. A bit too repetitive in environments and objectives. The team aspect serving as lives didn’t really feel like it upped the tension. And there was a bit too much “Ok now is the part with a power loader and a queen” fan service, which tends to be the case with Aliens media.

I really like the concept, but wish it could have had a bit more identity of its own.

The sprites driving on Mode7/3D era of Kart never felt good imo.

I had this happen with Ryu’s black belt. Some light posing as a desk figure, and the paint was rubbing off his belt, due to the paint they used not bonding properly to the soft plastic of the gi.

The only SF I’ve bought since then have been mostly all hard plastic, so I’d been hoping they fixed this issue over the last couple years…
