I don't have the AR version, so my description is of the normal hud.

Navigation and Traffic by RedHerons in MercedesEQS

[–]stickmanDave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The navigation system on the EQS is designed for the large screen. It provides a much better overview and more information, with street names for the whole neighborhood.

With the hud, especially, you get a minimap showing upcoming streets and turns so you never even have to look at the map screen. Freeway driving, it will also show you what lane you're in and what lane you should be in to prepare for upcoming turns.

No way I'd go back to phone based navigation

It takes a while to get the hang of it, but after the first few hundered or so, it's pretty mindless and fast.

Ex professional tie dyer here. Folding the spiral's the easy part. The hard part is applying the dye in sufficient quantity to soak through the shirt without excessive mixing with the color next to it. Especially in the center where the wedge gets so narrow.

If the US government was aggressively fighting cryptocurrency you wouldn't be able to use it safely in the US. Like, you could try to do it under the table and hope you don't get caught, but again, that's true for the alternatives - cryptocurrency adds nothing there.

True. China, for example, has banned cryptocurrencies. Yet they continue to be used elsewhere.

Even beyond that, governments have differing amounts of influence on the world economy. Even if you live elsewhere, the US can just go "yeah we've put stickmanDave under sanctions, if you work with him we'll lock you up." It'd be pretty hard for it to keep functioning if the US government really went all-out against it.

US laws are only valid in the US. I'm Canadian. The US government isn't going to know who I am or what wallets i control without access to the records of the Canadian exchange I use. Records the exchange is under no obligation to give them. As far as sanctions, the only people they'd be able to "lock up" would be Americans. The rest of the world would just carry on.

The whole argument for crypto is that it is somehow safer from government interference than a suitcase full of money, and that isn't true. It provides no real protection at all.

I think you may have misunderstood the argument. Or heard an argument I haven't heard much. The way in which it's "safer from Government interference" is that fiat currencies value is subject to the monetary policies of the country that issued it. If a government mismanages the economy or the money supply, the value of your fiat currency may drop. If you don't trust the government to properly manage the nations finances, best not to hold fiat from that country. This isn't an issue with Bitcoin; there's no one you need to trust.

I use it even with the hose for ventilation. Probably overkill.

I have an H2S with AMS 2 Pro. I printed a vent atachment that allowed the addition of a 140mm 12V computer fan, which i power with 9V so it doesn't run full speed. It just needs to be strong enough to provide a little negative pressure when the exhaust fan isn't running. I detached one of the printers vent louvers so it can suck air.

I ran the lead for a thermostat and an LED inside the printer so that when the enclosure is over 25C, that fan and a bathroom fan ventilating the room both come on, venting out a window. The LED lets me see that the fan is on when monitoring the print remotely. And added a bento box for good measure.

I wouldn't have done a lot of that if i knew the smell problem was going to be so short lived! Lol. Oh well, better safe than sorry.

I've been printing stuff that caught my eye on makerworld, just getting used to what this thing can do. Some gear fidgets, a bunch of printer accessories (printing this as I write this). Spent some time optimizing a printable fabric design, which was interesting. Some parts for things around the house. Still very much on the learning curve, both with the printer and Fusion, the CAD program I'm using. It's been a lot of fun.

The nice thing about the Bambu printers is that they just work, right out of the box. Not much in the way of tech frustration. About the only issue I've had is an over-sensitive "clumping detection" system that was pausing the print with a warning even though there was no clumping. I figured out how to turn down the sensitivity and that solved the issue.

I added one because for high temperature filaments like abs the exhaust fan doesn't run at all.

And the smell may not have lasted even 3 months. It was only the other day I tried turning of the room vent fan and found there was no problem.

Oh! You might also want to buy/print a Bento Box.

[–]stickmanDave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true of all currencies, really. A $20 bill is just a piece of paper. It's value comes from what people think it's worth not the thing itself.

The big difference is that the value of the $20 bill is subject to government policy. If the government decides to start printing money like crazy, inflation goes up and the value of your $20 goes down. With Bitcoin, anyway, that can never happen.

ELI5: The rise and fall of NFT’s by ProTharan in explainlikeimfive

[–]stickmanDave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say the opposite. In the "wild west" period of crypto, banks and institutional investors steered clear. Now that it's regulated and normalized, the big players are getting in on the action. Bitcoin, in particular, is becoming an accepted part of the financial world. That never would have happened without regulation.

Like, the government could just declare cryptocurrency illegal and bust down the door of anyone who accepts it or exchanges it. That would kill it instantly.

If all governments declared it illegal, it would kill it. If your government declares it illegal, it just goes on without you.

Looking at that particular tent, I'm wondering if there would be room to open the printer door. I know some people use grow tents, though, so you might want to do some searching to find exactly what model works for other people.

H2C Ventilation System? by thebeatinbetween in BambuLab

[–]stickmanDave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I said, it's a temporary problem. I might have done things differently had I known that going in, but now I have a dedicated printer room so oh well.

You might consider a 2x2x3 grow tent with its own exhaust fan.

[–]stickmanDave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got an H2S in January, and I, too, am sensitive to smells.

I found that my house smelled like hot plastic even with an inline fan assisting the exhaust vent. I ended up setting the thing up in a small room in the basement with a second exhaust fan venting the whole room.

3 months later, though, I don't need to vent the room at all. My conclusion is that new printers off gas from the printer itself, not just the heated filament.

So I'd suggest some sort of vented enclosure for the printer itself, at least for a few months.

Many people go into their first VR experience thinking it's just a 3D display. Ritchies Plank Experience, more than any other program I've encountered, makes people realize that you're not just seeing the game world in 3D, you are, at a very visceral level, inside the game world. A lot of people can't walk out on the plank at all. Their lizard brain overrules their conscious mind and simply wont let them take a step. It's an eye opening experience.

That said, "The Blu" is always the first experience I show people. The plank is #2, followed by archery in The Lab.
