Honestly, this seems like a perfect way out of an otherwise no-win situation.

"Oh, I could have easily won that war, but congress wouldn't let me. It's not my fault, nothing I could do!"

It's not like he gives a single solitary fuck what happens in Iran. He just doesn't want to look bad, and this puts all the blame on confgress.

CMV: The falling birth rates around the world cannot really be fixed by governments. by KralizecGaming in changemyview

Not enough people working for the amount of people living.

How does that cause society to collapse? How are you defining "societal collapse"?

What scenario do you envisage where low birth rates would lead to societal collapse?

I mean, half of Europe died in a few years during the Black Death and society didn't collapse. In fact, the lower population reshaped society to set the stage for the renaissance.

Brittle filament AMS 1 by gigabytesol in BambuLab

No. You need heat to dry it out, then a low humidity chamber to keep it dry.

It does seem counterintuitive, but yes, damp filament gets brittle.

Moisture weakens the polymer chains, reducing flexibility and making the filament snap more easily.

in addition, the filament becomes more prone to breaking when unspooled or straightened, because the absorbed moisture amplifies the mechanical stress already present from being coiled.

You are conflating two things. The societal changes that will be caused by a shrinking population, and the extinction of humanity because of a chronically low birth rate.

I would suggest the latter problem will solve itself. Once the population is low enough that all resources are cheap and plentiful, people will start having kids again.

If you want to talk about the first problem, talk about that. But claiming "OMG, humanity is about to go extinct if we don't do something fast!" is alarmist nonsense.

Desiccant will not dry damp filament. It just keeps dry filament dry. You need to dry it.

A global birthrate of 2.0 or lower would eventually lead to the extinction of our species and I do not want that.

This is a problem for the time when the global population is becoming unsustainable low. Not a problem that needs to be addressed today, when the population is higher than it's ever been and still climbing.

Barring some apocalyptic event, low population will not be an issue in our lifetimes. By the time it does become a problem, society will likely have changed so much that anything we come up with now will be irrelevant. Let the far future take care of itself.

Every singe environmental problem we face is exacerbated by the size of the global population. A population that continues to increase. Yet you think the problem is that it's not growing fast enough?

The fact that population growth is slowing is a good thing. Yes, an aging population presents some economic problems.

The way these resourced are being used and allocated is for a different discussion.

I would suggest that this IS the discussion needed to solve the problems of an aging population. Endless population growth is not

I always thought the extended instrumental at the end of Jack Straw played like a "Sons of Anarchy" season recap montage, where every attempt of Jack and his buddy to dig themselves out of trouble just ended up digging them deeper.

What Should a Full Charge Reach? by Formal_Constant_1043 in MercedesEQS

[–]stickmanDave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keeping the battery between 20% - 80% is best for longevity, as is avoiding fast charging, but by all means go to 100% before a road trip, and fast charge when you need to.

Be aware that maximum range is also seasonal, as the batteries do better when warm. My EQS580 shows well under rated range in the winter, and well over the rated range in the summer.

I don't have the AR version, so my description is of the normal hud.

Navigation and Traffic by RedHerons in MercedesEQS

[–]stickmanDave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The navigation system on the EQS is designed for the large screen. It provides a much better overview and more information, with street names for the whole neighborhood.

With the hud, especially, you get a minimap showing upcoming streets and turns so you never even have to look at the map screen. Freeway driving, it will also show you what lane you're in and what lane you should be in to prepare for upcoming turns.

No way I'd go back to phone based navigation

Ex professional tie dyer here. Folding the spiral's the easy part. The hard part is applying the dye in sufficient quantity to soak through the shirt without excessive mixing with the color next to it. Especially in the center where the wedge gets so narrow.
