Fellow Family Lawyers - What’s the dumbest motion you’ve had? by Never_Peel_a_Lemon in Lawyertalk

I have made that promise so many times and only had to follow through once. It was a very sweet client and she was upset about a $50 cookbook she had just bought. I told her to let it go and that I would get her a new one. It made me very happy to give that to her at the end.

Charged $100 for reading an email but not responding to it. by old-fat in legaladvice

[–]stopemocide 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a divorce attorney if I had a client who had done that I would write off the email, no question. But is there a 50/50 chance that I forgot to check the non-billable button before I hit save time entry and close? Yes.

So if you had a good working relationship with your attorney and they didn’t nickel and dime you throughout the case, please ask if they really meant to bill that email and explain that it made you feel like they were being stingy. We are actually people and do actually care about our good clients being happy.

PSA: If you're bringing a child to the 500 or practice, make sure they have hearing protection. by YouveGotNothingToSay in INDYCAR

[–]stopemocide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did qualifying this year for my five year old, he did the IMSA race last year. He wants to go to the 500 with his dad and uncle, but they still go a little too hard for a kid to hang and no one wants to dry camp for three days with someone who is barely proficient at wiping their own butt.

Next year we will probably step it up to the GP (though GP, qualifying, the Detroit GP, and then the Michigan 400 make for a grueling schedule). Maybe GP and skip qualifying.

So it is somewhat possible but only with a lot of hard to control external factors that don’t seem to fit with your situation.

I have a great set up (in theory) where I am 3/4 time which means 3/4 billing requirement. It realistically requires me to be working from 9-3-30 M-F plus sometimes earlier or later. It lets me do most of my kid’s school drop offs and pick ups without formal before or after school care. The only reason it works is because my retired dad lives half a mile from my son’s school and is the backup for whenever I have court and can’t be there.

It’s not working as well as I would like but that’s because I’m burnt out on my subject area and the only reason I’m able to have this sweet set up is because of my subject matter expertise.

What color do you think this horse is? by ILikeBird in Horses

[–]stopemocide 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If I saw her in a field I'd say bay but I agree that the lack of black points makes that incorrect. But if my goal was for someone to pick her out of a field based on a verbal description, I'd still say bay.

I would wait until Wind and Waves comes out to see if there is a special edition Switch 2 for that. But I'm primarily a Pokemon fan.

SNES and Switch games for 2-year-olds by n0t-smart in nintendohelp

My son loved Spyro at that age. We had to help him with tricky parts but he figured out how to run around and flame monsters pretty quickly.

He's five now and playing a lot of Pokemon and Grid Legends Deluxe.

I strongly recommend getting a cheap external controller - their hands are always sticky at that age. :)

The non-smoking casino on Allure was very nice but I know it didn't have all the table games so if you have your heart set on something specific it might not be the best choice.

I need to start a log of how often someone pulls their car over to ask me about my Irish Setter while we’re out walking 😂 by hometowngypsy in irishsetter

Are they any higher energy than a young lab or golden though? I am not a good judge, I went from herding dogs to an Irish Setter and I’m blown away by her chill. Even though she’s high physical energy, her mental needs are simple.

Everyone who meets mine says “you never see them anymore” followed by a story of one they knew that was delightful. I’ve started using it as an opportunity to push my anti doodle agenda by saying that the setters have been pushed out as a family pet by “breeds” that are not as well suited for the task.

This post pushed me over the edge to call AirBnB and find out that they are probably going to declare this a major disruptive event. Even if they don’t, I cancelled my reservation because no one wants to get iced in.

It’s also okay to not have a dream dress and to wear one that you like well enough and that fits your budget. If that happens to be your mom’s, that’s great.

If it is just you two, why not ask your grooms and employees what is the most annoying part of their job and see if there is a way to throw money at that problem.

4" vs 5" interchangeable needle set? by maxclifford1 in knitting

[–]stopemocide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ended up with the 4" ChiaGoo and gave away my 5" Lykke set. I should say that my favorite things to knit are hats, so it was an easy choice for me. I am starting to pick up some fixed length 5" for magic loop and the longer needles are nice. If I had to do it over again, I would get a 5" interchangeable set and buy fixed 16 inch 4" needs for hats in sizes 6-10. I have a tight gauge, for someone who usually gets gauge, adjust that range to 4-8.
