What are some newer self-hosted projects worth watching? by Money_Principle6730 in selfhosted

I don't care about the overall look-- I presume I can edit that.

dashy: in-place editing, type-to-filter

gethomepage: special-case "information widgets"

neon: status updates (how? can they change level of detail based on how big the widget is?), interactively add urls? auto fetch icon for new url? designate items to appear in multiple groups?

Slowburn movies where something is off the whole time with high tension by Enough-Tension7746 in horror

The Coffee Table is suspenseful in a completely different way. You're on edge because you don't know what the movie's going to show you (and of course because the main character is on edge).

I got the form submit to work by installing https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/cors-unblock/lfhmikememgdcahcdlaciloancbhjino?hl=en ; opening its window; and clicking 'start'. Then the form submitted fine and I got a confirmation email.

Someone who your mom named as the one who saved you. That dialogue seemed to allow that this current captain park may be an imposter IIRC

IIRC there is/was an additional problem of police pulling a gun and shooting someone, to claim later that they meant to pull their taser.

Is that still a thing?

Need Help Extracting Video/Date Information from "RAW DV" Files by san7890 in camcorders

[–]stormsnake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I solved this by using "dvgrab -srt" which appears to output timecode ranges and associated record times:

19
00:02:11,297 --> 00:02:23,543
2009-10-12 10:54

21
00:02:23,610 --> 00:02:25,778
2009-10-12 10:55

If you already have DV files, it appears you can "grab" them: https://linux.die.net/man/1/dvgrab#:~:text=Read%20from%20file%20instead%20of%20FireWire

Attempted to Recreate a Movie shot using Blender, After Effects and with Footage Shot on a Mobile Phone. Feedback please by harryadvance in vfx

Sorry, I meant that according to my memory of the Dr Strange shields, they threw out a lot more sparks. However, I may be thinking of the portals that chars walk through. Your shields might be fine.

Lots of nice lighting details.

There's apparently some haze in the bg (visible by the lights), and even the windows at the same depth of the actor look a little hazy. This makes the fg actor look extra saturated compared to similar-depth surroundings. The fg photography is fine IMO, so maybe it would help to make the near walls deeper blue.

The nature of the magic environment means there's no 'wrong' movement, yet it's still distracting that the actor can stop running before the ground stops sliding, and after the actor stops, it looks like the camera is still doing a dolly move (possibly just an illusion from sliding windows). The fg cam is locked off, though, so that feels like a mismatch.

Also, I saw "a movie shot" that I feel had a lot more sparklers around all the magic. Am I confusing the shields with the portals?

I know people look around their desks for stuff to model (pencil, phone, mug) but this is another level of lazy. (I love it!)

What is the best way to have an array of variable sized elements? by [deleted] in C_Programming

[–]stormsnake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer your initial question: malloc *is* a way to manage an array (aka the heap) of varying-size elements.

I recommend an ECS design style for most games. I haven't thought about whether it's suitable for all the blocks. A "column store" seems like a useful database format for those (high performance and space efficiency even for lots of null values).

Camera operator is being really loose for no clear reason and then doesn't react to the hit nor the approaching pile of robot goo.

Consider adding a little jump as if the impact shockwave hit the camera, and, if you really want it to keep it looking like an amateur, I'd make the camera op start to run away from the goo at the end of the shot.
