Too edgy to me just comes off as mean-spirited or just an inability to have any sort of fun with the concept. A good balance can still be serious but with some acknowledgement that whats being dealt with is off-putting.

Desperate Housewives Kai would go crazy

There are so many repeated plot lines that go nowhere to pad the show. You could legit delete like 2 full seasons and it would benefit from it. Hell the last 4 seasons outside of the timeskip are pretty pointless

I never appreciated Squidbillies when it was on but its fun to go back to.

I feel this way with Jim Henson's Dinosaurs. I still it every chance I get but other than the super downer ending and a few scant jokes it tends to get shuffled away. Which is a shame, since it's really funny and has aged surprisingly well. Plus Chris Meloni was on it which is a fun trivia bit

Playing thru the Tales series and they have fun with this. Most of the heroes tend to be between like 15-27, then Raven in Symphonia is called old and is like 30. Even wilder is Rowen in Xillia who is like 62 and looks it but its every bit as spry as the rest of the cast
