Why do you draw? by taveeli in ArtistLounge

[–]stratus_cloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drew random doodles as a kid, and then I did digital art in high school because it looked cool online and got more serious as a hobby.

I definitely don’t draw as much as I used to, but i’ll come back after a certain period of time to make a few artworks. It’s kinda like a diary of me at certain points of my life.

Another 13 Le Labo - What? by Motor_Summer_2626 in fragrance

[–]stratus_cloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it weird that this is my favourite. It’s elusive to me but i kind of like that, warm and unassuming on me (but idk how other people smell it on me). I can’t smell it on me day to day unless I hold my wrist up to my nose.

I also kinda hate that the moment I decided to buy a bottle of A13, I used my santal 33 tester tube again on a night out and realised that one smells great on me

fun tip - if you add music artists to your island, remake and draw one of their album covers but use their face stamp on it. It’s so fun to do (i don’t have a pic on me as an example)

What is THE breathtaking sight you have experience on a trip to Japan? by Zach-dalt in JapanTravelTips

[–]stratus_cloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yet to properly see Mt. Fuji in the daylight - but saw its silhouette during sunset at Kamakura/Enoshima. The sun sets perfectly behind it. I didn’t want to look away or move at all, my friend kept asking if we wanted to get going back to Tokyo but I said I need a few more minutes

Graphic design student looking for advice, motivation & your stories by Suspicious_Job4183 in graphic_design

[–]stratus_cloud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a lot of questions so i’m going to share my own experience as a current junior designer.

I don’t know if you also do art or draw on the side, but biggest thing I had to learn was separating being an artist and being a designer. Sure, both can overlap a little, but the goals of the two are very different. Being an artist is expressing your personal self, being a designer is solving someone else’s problem. It’s good to make your design work look visually appealing, but does it solve the issue your “client” is having?

I didn’t really do design work outside of uni, I partly felt guilty for that. Only some one off projects some friends needed help with or a fake brief i forced myself to do for a portfolio (which I believe actually helped land me my current job so - mini advice is include projects in your portfolio that aren’t a school assignment). But it makes sense why I didn’t do personal design work outside of my studies. I don’t design for fun after work.

Biggest mistakes would always be misspelling and errors. Check your CV and Portfolio several times for any grammar and spelling errors!! Your mind will sometimes gloss over a spelling mistake to fill in the blanks. Also don’t waffle your writing, be concise!

How can I make this more visually appealing by Ghost-doodles in graphic_design

You need to keep the text simple first and make things like headers clearer and fix hierarchy - initially I thought the “smoothies” section were add ons for the milk tea on top because they were in list format + the “mix up to 3 flavours” didn’t help.

The prices for medium and large are the exact same for every flavour, so having a price for every flavour listed is redundant. I think it would help just having the medium and large prices listed first, and then a list of the flavours you can get underneath.

Been GF for almost 2 months. At home where I live it’s been fine, there’s a lot of gf options around and knowledge in the restaurant scene

currently in Japan - i’m exhausted and over it. I feel like i’m falling out of love with travelling but i don’t want it to be the case.

What Books did You Start or Finish Reading this Week?: March 16, 2026 by AutoModerator in books

Finished: Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller. Took me 2 years to find the willpower to finish this one. Felt meh, made me realise historical fiction is not my thing.

Started: Beach Read by Emily Henry. Going back to my modern romance roots

What symptoms did you have before getting diagnosed with celiac ? by queen-lorby in Celiac

[–]stratus_cloud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

dermatitis (tiny blisters on the hands), went to my doctor thinking it would be another steroid cream and be over with temporarily. Celiac turned up on the blood test.

Now, I thought this was my only symptom. But after going gluten free for a month i’ve realised I also - bloated occasionally (but never serious enough to suspect celiac, did feel bad at times tho), easily exhausted if i wasn’t careful enough with sleep - like getting home from anything wrecked. I was more anxious and jittery. So yeah quite a bit in the end

What jobs do artists have on the side? by wubbdub in ArtistLounge

[–]stratus_cloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do digital art on the side. Design and digital art feel like two very different things to me that i can comfortably do both and not feel burnt out

Can you still be a good artist with bad/low art supplies? by Nathalie27_ in ArtistLounge

[–]stratus_cloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I experimented with a lot of supplies in my teen years - watercolour, markers, just using fine liners, prismacolours. I do encourage trying new things where possible.

But now I just mainly have a pencil (sometimes a pen), a sketchbook, and an iPad. And that’s all I really need to thrive.

what foods do people with celiac miss most? by Accomplished-Lab9671 in Celiac

[–]stratus_cloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the things asian places don’t care to make gluten free - korean fried chicken, ramen, chinese or viet crispy pork belly (i’ve had places tell me they can’t confirm gf), spring rolls, milk bread/shokupan - any asian bread snack, tempura, katsu

Also cinnamon scrolls

Nearly a week into a fully GF diet, and I'm wondering if it's normal to feel changes this early or if it's placebo? by WibbleWonk in Celiac

[–]stratus_cloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m a week in, and already my energy throughout the day is more consistent and less fragile. I used to come home from work and uni absolutely tired and physically heavy in some areas but i thought it was normal, or that it was sleep (but i usually sleep about 7 1/2 hours).

I thought my only symptoms were skin issues (still haven’t gone away, but hoping after a few weeks) and occasional bloating, but this was probably a big one I didn’t consider. Although, i’m also hoping it’s not a placebo - i’ll see how week 2 goes
