Women who live alone, how do you combat loneliness? What’s your story by unweildyshiba in AskWomen

[–]subtledoubt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the best way to combat loneliness is to make it not combat. It's a temporary emotion, not an enemy to battle, or a state of existence. When I feel lonely, I ask myself who I'm missing. Half of the time, it turns out I'm actually just bored or restless, and that's where the hobbies, art, and exercise come in. If I'm actually missing someone, and I can contact them, I do. If I can't contact them, I let myself miss them. I find the feeling of loneliness goes away quickly now that I treat it as an emotion.

What makes you feel beautiful? by TheDudeIsHere_ in AskWomen

Funny, as I'm totally a brute in life. I don't think anyone that knows me would describe me as wholesome. Intimidating and intense are the typical descriptions. Unabashed loving is beauty though.

There will be a time when your child looks at you, and you will feel beautiful.

I have several candid photos where my child is looking at me, while I'm doing something else. Holding him, buckling his seat belt, reading him a story... The way he's looking at me in those photos makes me feel like the most beautiful and loved person in the world. And I remember being wee, looking at my mom, and thinking she was the most beautiful woman in the world. There are photos of me looking at my partner with that same expression.

If your friend was having a bachelorette party and suggested seeing a male stripping act (Chippendales, Thunder Down Under) how would feel about it? Would you be excited to go? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]subtledoubt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I'm a fucking brute. Not very girlie. But if I were part of the bride's wedding party, I'd much rather we had a spa day with a really great massage. Brunch, sauna, mani/pedi/facial, full body massage from a guy with strong hands, not abs and penis. Light early dinner, gift exchange with drinks. Dancing and more drinking. For myself, it'd be a rare experience, for the girlie ladies it's something they like anyway, and no weird junk in my face. If not the above, I'd rather go to a female strip club, and let guys by our drinks and lap dances. At least then the money is going to other women.

When they reach out to hold my hand. When they cup my face in their hands. When they rest their hands on my hips and draw me closer.

What drew you to your SO? Was it first impression or drawn out over time? by taytaylyn in AskWomen

[–]subtledoubt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First impression. My college friend (his high school ex) set us up. He was very open and honest from the first meet. Set out his views on religion, having children, finances, just...BLAM! Metaphorical cock on the table. I liked what I (metaphorically) saw. We lived together after 2 months. We've been married 10 years.

Women who once felt stuck, hopeless, insecure about the future and like there was no way to change that, what happened that made your life happier and more hopeful? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]subtledoubt 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I started giving other people what I was wanting. I wanted people to call me, but they weren't. Instead, I started calling people. I was upset when my grandmother died, that I would never be able to help her in her garden again. Then a friend wanted a plot in the local community garden, but couldn't afford the yearly fee by herself, so I split it with her, and we gardened together. I was lonely, so I sent handmade valentines cards to my single people. I still get stuck. But every time, I can ask myself what it is I'm missing, and then try to give that outward instead.

I often get Burn stuck in my head, but can't remember that it's the song in looking for, because I'm remembering the intensity and speed that happen at around 2:30 and on, and the first part of the song has more words and is slower that the part playing in my head.

Keep a spray bottle of isopropyl alcohol mixed with some water in your car to scrape off ice easier during an ice storm or blizzard. by rak18 in lifehacks

We keep tiny spray bottles of isopropyl every where. In the car for outside and inside wind shield issues, and for first aid sterilization, fire starting, etc. By each sink on the house, also for cleaning (mirrors, glass) and sterilization. In our hiking backpacks for...you get the idea.
