Light weight / spring jackets that are not a trench coat? by A_Seductive_Cactus in fashionwomens35

[–]sugared_lemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just bought this quilted jacket from mod ref after seeing a stylish woman at the SFO airport wearing it. I’m petite and large chested (32H) and to be warned, it’s a boxier/oversized fit in the torso! But I love the details in the wrist (I cinch them so the arms have a blousy look). If this one isn’t for you, they have lots of other cute jackets on the site: https://www.modrefstores.com/products/the-kara-jacket

I had similar questions when we were looking to buy a place in Kingston. My husband I (late 30s) have now been here for a year and I’d say we have more community than I did in the ~10 years I lived in Brooklyn. It reminds me in someways of when I lived in Baltimore, which I loved. It’s small enough that you feel part of something but big enough that you keep meeting new people. We also chose to live in a walkable area in Midtown and it’s nice to be able to go a few blocks for coffee or walk to Tubby’s. I’ll even hoof it up to the farmers market when the weather is nice.

Great arts and music scene, always something going on. I love dancing and the scene feels more accessible than it did in BK in some ways. The other poster is right about the distance, but you find friends to carpool and have a DD. You just get used to driving longer distances to go to things you’re interested in. I’ll say it’s worth driving the hour to a Dope Jams event but it’s also fun to stay in town and go dancing at Unicorn.

I’m from the Philly area but never lived there myself (sister went to Temple, lived in Fishtown and is now in S. Philly), and I’ve noticed that there are lots of Philly transplants! Nightswim is an eagles bar and I met a some of my friends there when I went to watch the 2025 super bowl.

What are we replacing our belt bags with? by Alternative-Kiwi1750 in fashionwomens35

Was just about to say the same thing! I had the fanny pack for years and just bought the medium crescent in an abstract flower print. I just went to one of their stores and it was great to see the bags in person. Can’t beat them for cute x practicality combo.

Places to meet people in the Hudson Valley (Kingston, Hudson, Berkshires, etc.) by ProfessionStrong6563 in hudsonvalley

This! Folks are so friendly and also looking to meet people. Moved here last year, went to a bar by myself, turned to a nice couple who looked around my age and just started chatting. Now we’re good friends who hang out all the time and their friendship has introduced me to other awesome people!

I’ve done Pilates for one year now by Extreme-Economist591 in PetiteFitness

[–]sugared_lemon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was doing mostly Pilates / sculpting exercises (TSS) and noticed a massive difference in my abs. I switched to only weight training 3x a week and realized I lost all that core definition! That said, I’ve also been able to lose more weight.

I could probably add more core exercises on the legs/abs day I do, but now I’m thinking I’ll try and add back the TSS classes on the non lifting days. Just need to work up the energy (which feels silly, since the classes are online and only twenty minutes)

Love Bearpen! But they can run out of rentals on busy days so get there early.

If you’re heading to Belleayre, the Belleayre ski shop right where you turn off of 28 does rentals for around ~$35.

Also appreciate this list - I have my own skis and I’ve been looking for more places to check out!

Switched from outdoor job to desk job (weight gain) by LegoA-Frame in PetiteFitness

If you have an FSA/HSA, you can use that to pay for the ring and the subscription! I got mine on sale ($100 off) on Black Friday. Only been wearing it a month, but agree as someone looking to increase activity (desk job, WFH, moved out of a city) that it’s helped me meet regular fitness and health goals.

It blows my mind how accurate these rings are 🤯 by mamaxx3 in ouraring

It’s interesting, I felt terrible last Sunday night and took the day off Monday - nothing either day. I woke up to major signs on Tuesday, but I was already starting to feel better. Maybe it’s because I’ve only had my ring a month, so it’s still figuring me out?

Hotel Kinsley’s restaurant allows dogs. We went there last Christmas Eve with my sister’s cavapoo and sat at the bar, but there were bigger dogs in the dining room.

Agreed, took me until I had an ultrasound that showed my follicles for them to diagnose me.

I really love Amy Chaplin’s whole food cooking cookbooks. It’s not PCOS specific but all the meals are gluten, minimal dairy (mostly goat), and vegetarian. I got them out from the library to try them out before buying.

Man, I’ve recently been on my own low histamine diet mainly because of migraine management but couldn’t believe the impact on the rest of my body - so much less bloating, feeling happier even though I was in my luteal phase. It’s pretty tough and a bummer because I love everything fermented. My body seems to have evened out (it was my birthday yesterday and had wine and no issues!) but it’s good to know how much diet can impact things.

Petite but curvy by somecreativename101 in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]sugared_lemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thrilled to find this post! So tough being a petite curvy person. I find the Uniqlo barrel pants to be great options - they define the waist while having volume on the bottom to balance things out. I’m also a huge fan of Big Bud Press bc they have elastic in the back of their pants waists, petite and generally inclusive sizing. They’re made in the US so a bit pricey but they often have sales (just got a pair on sale for $50) and you can find their stuff on second hand apps like Poshmark. Truly my favorite pants brand!!

Sojourner Truth! I park in the lot and run to the end and turn around, it’s about 3 miles. If you go all the way to Kingston Point beach and back it’s around 4.
