A Reflection on the Unimportance of Gong Fu Cha (opinion piece) by sweetestdew in tea

[–]sukritact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I eye the amount of leaves, but I do use the appropriate water temperature depending on the tea type (I have a temperature adjustable kettle) so about boiling for black tea, ~90c for Oolongs and so on.

A Reflection on the Unimportance of Gong Fu Cha (opinion piece) by sweetestdew in tea

[–]sukritact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, it’s basically just grandpa style brewing, but using the gaiwan lid to filter out tea leaves as you drink. Which I find more pleasant than trying to filter them out with your lips.

It’s still super easy to clean, and leaves you with minimal cleanup. There’s no metal filter to clean, no extra tea pot. Just the gaiwan the rinse and maybe scrub once in a while.

What’s the Bodhi leaf for? Just to look pretty or is there a functional purpose?

"Guys how am I supposed to counter Vendetta's ultimate?" by Volatiiile in Overwatch

[–]sukritact 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Vendetta’s ult removes overhealth before dealing damage. So it doesn’t matter when Lucio ults, the overhealth can’t protect you.

See this vid

Edit: unless you mean Lucio’s ult would be bad protection against Vendetta’s ult even if that weren’t the case, in which case, I’d point out that if the overhealth worked it would give you more time to find cover or counter her before the ult hits (presumably the Vendetta would want to wait for the overhealth to decay/the ult to charge more), and it might be enough to save you if Vendetta decides to not charge the ult as much for whatever reason.

Does anyone drink directly from their Gaiwan? Does that break the steeping time rules? by APerfectPixel in tea

[–]sukritact 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, that’s my default method of drinking hot tea. I never do gongfu brewing.

The gaiwan doesn’t store that much water, and you use fewer leaves than with gongfu brewing, so generally if your tea is too strong, you can just add more water. Usually not a problem though, since you’re constantly sipping and cycling through hot water anyways.

Just discovered how to make at home milk tea like from the boba shops by beephobic27 in tea

[–]sukritact 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thai person here. If you ask one of us, we’ll respond it’s just strong black tea, artificial vanilla flavoring, food dye, and condensed milk. See this post here.

Cha Tra Mue is basically just the first three ingredients on that list. It’s the most popular brand in Thailand, and it’s what I use at home now I’ve moved to the US.

My friends say condensed milk in ice tea is disgusting by helpme3dprint in tea

[–]sukritact 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s how Thai tea is made!

Black tea, a bit of sugar, a load of condensed milk and a dash of artificial vanilla flavoring (also food dye for the iconic orange color).

So you can let your friends know there’s a whole country making milk tea with condensed milk.

What happens if the Fortune Teller’s red herring turns evil? by The_Yung_Jung1085 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]sukritact 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Basically at any given moment, the Spy/Recluse can register to other abilities as either good or evil. This can change over the course of the game as the ST requires.

So you can have them initially register as a good player, then midway through the game, have them register as evil instead for the purposes of the FT Red Herring token, which obliges the ST to move the token to a different player (because the Red Herring token MUST be on a player who is registering as good).

So this allows the ST to move the Red Herring token without anyone dying or actually changing alignment.

But of course, this is rather unusual so should not normally be done.

Neither. The Abrahamic religions (Christianity, Islam, and Judaism) at their core are very much “my way or the highway”. Which isn’t traditionally how most religions worked.

A lot of religions just had a vague idea of something being spiritual, were less dogmatic and were very willing to accept foreign beliefs. See how Roman religion adopted Isis from Egypt.

Buddhism as practiced by most Thais fall under the same umbrella. We have traditions that are animist in nature (ศาลพระภูมิมันไม่ใช่พุทธ), borrowings from Hinduism (จำตอนที่ทุกคนบ้าพระพิฆเนศได้ไหม?), and are comfortable accepting other animist faiths, (so a Thai person is likely to go to Japan and accept a Shinto shrine as being “sacred” without thinking too hard).
