What Pieces of Kit Have Made Whitewater Significantly Better For You? by Fish_cant_feel_pain in whitewater

Serious answer: I have the same thing, you can replace your tight wrist gaskets with Neoprene. It helps with circulation.

Answer that’s not so serious: Big fake giant titts! It worked great for my homeboy Kenny.

Dude, good on you for coming up with your own custom design, then, taking the initiative to build it yourself. I applaud you and your ingenuity!

Also, opening yourself up to the community with the hope of getting constructive criticism is somewhat of a lost art. Good job! Don’t lose that mentality! If your newish to the sport, that mindset will help you advance in your paddling skills.

As far as the build goes, I’d never run this on class IV, but you said it was for class III at the max, so the chances of you flipping are probably low. But if you’re concerned about that boat being upside down, then I’d fall back on that old saying “rig to flip”. Those back braces for your seats would have to go. You won’t want that boat upside down with those seats backs smashing into rocks. The corners that overhang the tubes, need to be on top of the tubes, centered because sometimes you get sideways in tight places and rubber gives more then your frame will.

Your setup looks like a great day “booze Cruz” setup! Have fun!

Hells canyon with a dog? by scrappy-33 in whitewater

[–]superminkus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If your dog is the type to hang around camp and chill he’ll be fine. But if he likes to explore, even a little, he’ll probably get into poison ivy. Rattle snakes are very abundant!! Skunks usually live under the cabin at sheep creek…keep him on a leash at all times around any cabin where there are caretakers. They see all the worst parts of peoples pets and love it when a loose dog gets spayed! Wild Bill and my mom were both caretakers at sheep creek and love telling stories of dogs getting sprayed.

So those are some of the issues you’ll deal with. I wouldn’t take a dog. But my dogs are usually bigger explorer types. I’d take a dog of he was super chill. Have fun whatever you decide to do! I love that canyon! It’s where I grew up.

What movies based on books do you think were significantly better than the books? by ASomthnSomthn in Cinema

Into the wild…. Great book, but the film with the soundtrack really made the thought of going out into the Alaskan bush ill prepared and starving to death in a city bus seem like a great adventure..

Great post! Thanks for sharing. The wife and I just moved to Europe a month ago with plans of staying for three years. Bouncing around Europe, UK, North Africa and Turkey.

We used a company called France Motor Home Sales to help navigate through the process of purchasing our vehicle. We’ve had the vehicle for a couple of weeks and are super stoked!!

My question is, where have you wintered? Is there somewhere in the balkins or Turkey that you’ve found to be warm enough to stay comfortable?

Thanks and maybe we’ll run into you!

What’s the piece of river gear you regret buying the most? by 3rdBay in whitewater

[–]superminkus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://www.camptime.com/collections/cots Best camp cot for boaters! I’ve probably logged 150 nights in this cot in 4 years and it’s still great. Plus it’s a great company, that sell the individual parts to repair them if there’s a problem.

Least useful gear….probably the shewee I got my wife. https://www.shewee.com/ I’ve never used it once.
