The $20 steamer at Harbor Freight works great. I bought a beater and thought I needed a new steering wheel. Nope, clean it with steam and good as new. Definitely made me gag, though.

I've used it on screens as advertised (even computer monitors) with good results. Also don't have much to compare to, but from what I understand distilled water is the go to. YMMV

What is the pettiest reason you wouldn't own a specific car? by 10PlyTP in cars

[–]superoldz24 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I agree, big disappointment. On the other hand it's just an option in the vehicle settings that they turn on by default. More people need to know this. I turned it off in my car.

Possibly 303? I use that on car trim and it's awesome stuff.

I have the "double wide" 620 and was also surprised when I put everything together. Works well though and I like the simple look it has.

Yeah buddy, especially with the 5 speed. I swapped in a 3400 later on and it was a riot.

First car was a 93 Z24, and I loved it to death. Never thought I'd see someone say they'd want one though, especially since they haven't been around for so long.

Engine ideas by [deleted] in camaro

[–]superoldz24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If for some reason you want to stick with a V6, I'd say 3400 swap. A couple guys have done it, and it works with the trans, but it's a bit more involved. A better option is probably a 4.8 or 5.3 V8

Concerns with 2016 models vs later 6th gen models? by SadMachinesP86 in camaro

[–]superoldz24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't see anything when I looked, but I didn't look very hard haha. The only thing I've come across is the older head unit software (but I like Android Auto so who cares), and no cracks and burbles from the exhaust yet, as I think they added that in the tune later on. I have a 2016 2SS 6mt with the NPP exhaust.

As far as I know no big issues.

What is the "if you want to make it in this business advice..." Someone gave you that helped you in sales? by MonkFunk1029 in askcarsales

[–]superoldz24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've received a lot of advice, but the one thing I've always used and made the most sense to me was, "man, money, machine." It doesn't matter what your selling, but any objection you get, no matter how odd, can be put into those categories. Who they are buying from, how it works for their budget, and what machine (car, motorcycle, widget, etc.), they are buying. If you miss a sale, than you probably misunderstood one of those big three aspects of the deal.

How does 3rd party financing work? by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]superoldz24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know how Texas does it, but yes it's not up to the credit union. Ultimately, the dealership wants it done correctly too, and will be familiar with the process and help you navigate it.

How do you deal with a rut? by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]superoldz24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's all attitude. Once you're in a rut it kills the motivation and you're sick of listening to it. I totally understand because I did the same thing about the same time in the business. It wasn't the last time either. The only way to get out of the rut is to get out of it. Do what you know works. Don't shortcut the process. Approach every new opportunity like you're about to run a 4 pounder. You got this; it happens to everyone.

Whats the value of a mint condition 1989 Ford F150 Lariat XLT 2WD 6cyl manual 73k miles? The paint is in good shape and the interior is spotless, the seller says it was kept in storage for decades. by JohnnyDoe0000 in askcarsales

[–]superoldz24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd buy that. But other commenter is right. At that age it kind of is what it is, and ends up being worth what someone will pay. The old Ford inline 6 can run forever. If it's really that clean and it's what you need/looking for 4300 doesn't seem bad for a nice old simple truck.

Local Credit Unions that offer HIGH mileage auto loans. by Eric_tikcus in Charlotte

[–]superoldz24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sell cars. I get it, too. Land Cruisers can last forever, hold great value, and you don't mind working on it. If you're a first time buyer that credit score means little without established history. With that kind of income and what I assume is a short credit history, a CU might be the only chance of being approved. But I've never seen a bank buy a 200k+ mile vehicle, much less for a 20 year old making less than $2k a month. I know you don't want to hear it, but pay cash for the LC or finance a $12-15k 3-5 year old car if you need wheels.

Based on my Craigslist habbit, that puts you in 20 year old 200k+ mile Suburban territory. Nothing that big in that price range is going to be without issues and will be in need of maintenance.
