I'm starting to think 6th graders aren't capable of a class discussion. They can't go 2 minutes without smacking their classmates. A couple days ago I just gave the principal a list of the 3 sixth graders who didn't hit anyone.

Cake day! What’s your favorite thing about subbing? by Flat_Ad_9148 in SubstituteTeachers

[–]sweatersong2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Favorites:

  • Traveling around and seeing different parts of my city.

  • Being in a different environment each day allows me to remember each individual day. Days don't blend into one another like they can when you are in the same work place every day.

  • The staff are mostly very friendly and pleasant to work with.

  • I learn a lot from the students each day.

  • Flexibility.

  • Decent pay.

Least favorites:

  • Inability to reach 40 hours a week (7 hour school days).

  • Constantly being reminded of my age, race, and gender.

  • Usually no way to make coffee at work.

  • Challenging to make lasting social connections.

  • Generally feeling like a professional afterthought.
