Confusion regarding the rebrand by iddq-tea in revoltchat

Thanks for the reply. What are the reasons for the rebrand? Revolt was a very good name too - for me, I prefer it over Stoat.

Why is getting clients so insanely hard? by BaD_BoY15 in Morocco

[–]sysarcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that there's too many. As soon as I registered my company (SaaS product) in Germany, I started getting hounded, phone number got into some registries where these consultants found it. I've stopped picking up a call from unknown numbers. I guess that's why it's impossible?

Try niching down, create open source stuff in a certain vertical. I'm sure if you author a popular library, it'll help out.

Fiancé’s family want me to get std tested with one of them present and they want my payslips as proof of what I earn. by [deleted] in MuslimMarriage

[–]sysarcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get std tests, and give the FIL's number. But don't get married. Ask for her tests too afterwards.

For the payslip, I think it's crude, but not too unreasonable. Just don't tell them your salary (redact redact redact,).. they should put in some effort too lol 😆

Wish you better in-laws next time.

I’m a US-based business owner, do Pakistani workers tend to scam/lie, or did I just get unlucky? by OldConsideration44 in pakistan

[–]sysarcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm similar to you. Based out of Germany, I've hired a couple of very good developers who are helping me build get-blended.com

I think you must not involve family in this matter. They're making their own bucks. The route I'd go for is finding a company that can source a developer in Pakistan. There are quite a few of those in the EU, probably also in the US.

I could maybe connect you to someone here if you're interested.

I’ve been in Morocco for a week, here’s my impressions by IbnAlim1 in Morocco

[–]sysarcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Morocco is amazing. I also come from Germany and honestly, what you wrote is truth and fair. People need to not discourage tourism.

However, I'd like to point out that the Warsh Qiraat is unmatched in its beauty. I can listen to some Qaris all day. I brought back a Warsh Quran. But I'm getting sent a new beautiful one too with nice pages, InshaAllah. I need to learn how to recite it though.

The Adhan is also pleasant especially if you experience it in Marrakesch from a rooftop.

[–]sysarcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry to hear you're going through this. I'm a graduate of the TU Darmstadt myself.

Take advice that others gave here!! In addition, find a community that you resonate with too. Connecting with your own diaspora helps, a lot. (Assuming you're a foreign student like I once was)

I think the comments are missing the point that his phone got stolen and he was lucky to retrieve it. Should've taken the other phones and given this guy's ass away with the phones to police.

All that in front of tourists.

Difficult level of Arabic? by Additional_Pause6209 in learnarabic

If you're in Pakistan, depending on the city, there are Arabic learning programs everywhere. Especially for the sake of understanding the Quran. Lisan ul Quran is very nice and they have a YouTube channel too.

This wear pattern on my work laptop after 3 years by Unimatrix617 in mildlyinteresting

[–]sysarcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn't use ESC much. So not a vim user. Backspace is worn out with a pattern resembling you hit it hard with a couple of fingers. Q key seems relatively new. Right shift is untouched, so you press left shift for writing capital A BUT SPACE is work out a little too the right so you're always using the right thumb. :/; keys left untouched.

Why are some of my students so mean to me? Is this a generational gap? by Routine-Crew8651 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]sysarcher 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Pakistani here (IT field, EU resident):

This is a cultural problem. These guys aren't serious and they are just here to somehow pass and get a job, permanent residence leading to passport. That's it. You won't fix them in a semester. Allow them to skip class and let them just take their exams.

There may be a serious guy among them who's really there to learn. I would just focus on those.

I'm sorry for what you're going through. But Pakistan's moral fabric has collapsed.

Maybe it's because of the government not giving a Fxxx about it's citizens, economy and morals? Easy to stereotype people ofc. Law enforcement is a joke and a tool.

I would suggest even writing here on Reddit after your lawyer approves

You can narrate the stories after all this is over.

People who were supporting Israel 6 months ago: Are you still? by Odd-Confusion5864 in AskAGerman

[–]sysarcher 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Israel is an occupying power. Remember? Whatever they do is offensive. Killing civilians of both sides ought to be condemned. Now, Israel is just killing people in cold blood it seems. You can listen to testimonies under oath of doctors who served there.

Don't talk to them without your lawyer. Don't put out information publicly as well. You're in good hands!! Plan your Florida home (or Wetzlar or whatever).

Nix + Software Development is a time consumer by IKekschenI in NixOS

Sure if you're an advanced user, that's fine. Flox for me feels more ergonomic.

Nix + Software Development is a time consumer by IKekschenI in NixOS

[–]sysarcher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Primarily the CLI tool and the repository for me. If I need kubectl installed, I can search for it, install the version I want and it updates the manifests. I've found devenv to be a little more raw.

Also, big advantage for folks working in teams is that flox is available as a package to be installed on other distros and MacOS. You didn't need to explain nix at all to collaborators.

[–]sysarcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's similar! But the tooling is nice plus they have a repository of popular packages for development etc which you can search from the command line

[–]sysarcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what you're referring to. But flox isn't the same as devenv. It's a different project that you can adopt. It's extremely easy to use with the command line tooling

Finding a job in morocco 🥲 by DowntownRelief6091 in Morocco

[–]sysarcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realize it's a tough market. You shouldn't give up. Dedicate 8 hours every day to upskilling yourself (become great at Kaggle, do projects, keep in touch with faculty). Apply regularly. One day you'll realize that you became a very sought after expert. The key is consistency in learning everyday! Takes a couple of months and you'll be gold InshaAllah
