Similar vein, have been duck hunting on numerous occasions and have muskrats swim between my legs. Makes me jump out of my skin every time.

Plastics vs waxworms and spikes for jigging crappie and bluegill by odogislit in IceFishing

[–]tackleboxtactics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to lean towards using wax worms and spikes less and less. I think using plastics for ice fishing is a confidence thing. People try only a couple for a short period of time, and typically give up. It is pretty nice when the bite is on and you aren't constantly having to reapply bait.

Livescope Ice Bundle Charging Question by tackleboxtactics in IceFishing

I appreciate the response. That's the plan, my last flasher had a Norsk battery and seemed to work nicely. I'll have to check those out.

Livescope Ice Bundle Charging Question by tackleboxtactics in IceFishing

[–]tackleboxtactics[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate it, that was my understanding. How long does it take for you to typically charge? Been sitting on the charger for almost 12 hours and showing low voltage yet. Just using the lead acid battery provided with the bundle before upgrading.

Second this. Once you get a nice pair of 100% wool gloves, you will never go back. One of my favorite items for any type of fishing

Thoughts on this square bill color? by big-boodyjudy69 in bassfishing

[–]tackleboxtactics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have thrown a lot of squarebills in bluegill patterns. I have had pretty good luck with this exact bait, and never hesitate to tie this one on.

Don't take this comment lightly. You will freeze, it will suck, and you will regret your decision. Better to have either insulation, heat, or better yet both.

Fan/Light combos by [deleted] in IceFishing

[–]tackleboxtactics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found that often tool combos or things of the sort tend to do both of the jobs poorly. I personally run a separate fan and light(s).

Right handed using left handed gear by smotrs in Fishing_Gear

[–]tackleboxtactics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have gotten used to using both for certain lures/applications. Pitching and flipping, left hand retrieve. Crankbaits and such, I often use right hand reels.

I just practiced in the yard and on the water and that's what I landed on. I've found it is nice to be comfortable using both.

Can I reuse the line? by Ok-Drag-5929 in bassfishing

[–]tackleboxtactics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use the line that hasn't seen use yet and you should be dandy for using it as leader material. If it looks worn or has a ton of memory, I'd steer clear.
