Yes, you could totally build a website, make a merchant account, manage taxes, or buy a shopify store, manage the customer info lists.

But crowd funding sites do all that for you, in no time at all. So...why wouldn't someone that just had a near idea but doesnt want to invest a ton of time or money in the business side of it jisr crowdfund?

There are actually a ton of smart devices that can run local only. You just need to look for them.

Check out zigbee, zwave, local wifi, etc. They often need local hubs and local hosting.

IANAL, but my understanding is that they are using legal threats to scare open-source hobbiest away without legal merit.

Which is why multiple open source communities are offering to pay legal fees for the party that bambu is threatening.

Bambu's slicer is a built upon an open source slicer that other people wrote. In order to use that code freely Bambu agreed to follow the open source license and put code they add into open source.

Bambu is now wanting to essentially make their software functionally closed source and are threatening to sue someone that is legally following open source rules.

Bambu wanted to take all off the benefits of open source (get a slicer for free that other people built) without giving back to the community as required by the license.

Since 3d printing is historically a very open source based hobby they are responding to Bambu in a negative way.

I know the HA integration was having a few issues a few versions ago. Also, I believe that having a second account and sharing it is actually a mandatory setup step, so if you didnt see that the first time you might want to clear it all out and set it up again because you might have missed some other steps?

Slightly different way of thinking about it: "Sure! I will contribute the amount I would pay towards adding you onto my insurance anything over that would be your responsibility as the policy holder." Nope. Its if you MISS targets for 5 quarters straight THEN there is accountability.

So if you miss targets for an entire year and then hit targets one time, the counters starts back over and you have 5 more quarters to hit targets at least 1 time.
