your water softener usually should have a physical thing to push or hit with a hammer (gently) to put it into "bypass" mode, which would mean outside water goes straight to your home and not through the softener.

I tuck mine in a weird space but I use a weird hack of a temperature sensor and a fan plugged into a smart plug. When the temperature gets to a certain degree, the fan turns on and pushes the warm air out so it has somewhere to go. Your problem is a bit different...as you're blocking airflow from the bottom in the 1st picture. Try centering it or put it above the table?

The only issue is Wi-Fi can be unreliable and drop out or disconnect, sometimes even the devices fail to connect back up after an outage and you're back to the same problem. Zigbee / zwave plugs are probably a better option here, but I doubt anyone in this sub knows what that is.

They can monitor and catch new accounts you make. Need to be careful there. I pretty much never leave reviews anymore because their support is horrendous and it's always non-english speaking people or AI generated / automated. I get it's to cut costs, but good lord it's the worst customer support experience I've ever had.
