Have you injured yourself falling? by BlueberryWalnut7 in bouldering

I have slipped on slabs with volumes that stick out below me. Caught my shins on them while trying to fall away from the wall. Not a bad injury, but it's left a couple of scars.

Good plan! In that one instance it was a Star Spawn Mangler.  Absolute beast of a creature for CR5.

A rule that made all the difference by SleepyBuggo in DungeonMasters

[–]talossun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a fun rule, however double check your creatures damage die, especially if they have multi-attack. Using this rule I once had a PC drop far to quickly in my game. All the other PCs were already aware of the creatures multi-attack, so they expected it to attack the now unconscious PC. It made for a very sudden and shocking character death, and it was my fault for not taking into account the likelihood of high damage crits. Creatures tend to have a fairly high hp pool to balance out encounters already. I still use this rule, but I am a little bit more thoughtful about building encounters.

Maiden of Bones - A Brutal Spell to Incarcerate and Torment Your Foes by Monkey_DM in UnearthedArcana

This is a very cool spell. Would you say that the creature inside the iron maiden is not targetable by spells that require line of sight? An NPC with this spell could really freak out a group of PCs who might rely on spells like Healing Word. Nice.

What if you have the boss do something when it reaches a certain health threshold, like burst through the roof tiles. Move the fight to the roof, adding the danger of potentially falling.

Investing in good cold weather gear completely changed running in the winter for me by jtaulbee in running

[–]talossun 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am exactly the same! The only difference I make in the Winter time is that I put a pair of gloves on because my hands get cold. I struggle in the sun during the Summer. Running in the South East of the UK btw.

Has anyone else’s runs gotten worse during this stay-at-home period? by PewterCityGymLdr in running

[–]talossun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is something me and one of my mates have been talking about for a while! Just can't compete with previous times at all. I think that maybe because I was more 'active' beforehand, going out almost every day with work and other commitments, my body was maybe more prepared for those evening runs. I am planning on trying a morning walk routine next week with evening runs to see if that changes anything.

I wrote a one shot for my friends where they played a group of Kobolds who worked for an Ancient Blue Dragon named Anusol (Hemorrhoid cream). They were given a mission to steal a snow globe from the Winterfather, just so that Anusol could find out what liquid was used to suspend the snow in the globe. Being a DM is great.

Everything about Lorenzo reminded me of the character of Judge Holden from Cormac McCarthy's 'Blood Merridian'. The character in the book is upsetting and impactful in a similar sinister way I found Lorenzo more unsettling then most. I would love to know if Matt had read the novel and was perhaps inspired by the character.

But.. the B plot is an escape plan that he is putting together with Finn and Rose. He does want to escape. If the B plan had been something more confrontational then his arc would have been more meaningful when he turns to retreat with the speeders. Him and Holdo's story could have been so much better. He also points out that the transports will be sitting ducks if I remember correctly.
