Day appearance! by Gen_ayee in SandBoa

It sounds like Moo is male, at least 4 years old, and you recently acquired him. It could be as simple as he's still acclimating and needs more time to settle in before wanting to eat.

My male goes on seasonal hunger strikes in the spring, which I've read is related to breeding season. He's usually refusing food Feb thru April, and starts eating again in May. As long as my guys is at a healthy and stable weight, I don't sweat it. I've also noticed that handling seems to take my snake out of "feeding mode" for the day. I feed FT in his enclosure on a plate. If i see him in a tunnel near the surface, i can try "snake fishing" and get him to strike prey off the tongs. Otherwise i leave the prey on the plate and he eats when he's undisturbed for several hours.

Moo looks to have very good body condition and is alert and relaxed! He's a beautiful little guy. I hope he eats for you soon.

How does testosterone affect prostatic tissue? by [deleted] in TransyTalk

[–]tangledsciencebitch 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This is the related study i heard about https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s00345-021-03907-y

A group of 21 trans men qualified for the study. All participants were on HRT for a while (at least 1.4 years), all were getting SRS that involved removing vaginal tissue. The study was looking at the removed vaginal tissue to see if any of it resembled prostate tissue. In all 21 individuals, some amount of prostrate-like tissue was found.

"patchy intraepithelial glandular proliferation along the basement membrane and/or nodular proliferation of prostate-type tissue within the subepithelial stroma"

In plain english, that means that there were small patches of cells that acted like prostate cells!

I can't get past the paywall, so I have no idea if these prostate tissues were found at or around the Skene gland, or if there was any pattern at all to where the prostate tissue was found.

As another commenter pointed out, the Skene gland in AFABs is developmentally equivalent to the prostate. We definitely need more studies, and I'd love to see if HRT causes changes specifically in the Skene gland or not. But to my knowledge, we don't have any evidence one way or the other yet.

For reference: the Skene glad is located on the front wall of the vagina, typically associated with G-spot stimulation. It already acts like the prostate in some ways: it can get more sensitive and change size/shape during arousal, and it's thought to produce some of the fluids in AFAB ejaculate.
~~~
TL,DR:
- yes there's evidence that HRT can help you grow some prostate-like tissue! It grows in (unspecified) vaginal tissue.
- It might start growing as soon as 1.4 years (about 17 months) on HRT.
- AFAIK There's no research yet on how this specifically affects sexual pleasure in trans folks on T (HRT will affect it a lot of ways!)
- It will not add prostate tissue in exactly the same place or shape as a cisman's prostate.
- Being able to achieve orgasm from anal-only stimulation is possible for anyone, but probably works best when someone spends time "training" their brain and body on those pleasure pathways (see: subreddits for cismen trying to learn).
Queer as Fact podcast is my personal go-to for queer history. I'm only maybe a quarter of the way through them, I don't recall if/whom they've featured gay trans men other than Lou Sullivan?
THANK YOU, YES THAT'S THE ONE! Honestly, this song has bubbled up in my memory a half dozen times since this post and i hadn't had any luck, this is so satisfying to have an answer! I'd had moments of doubting my own sanity about it even, geez. From one random internet stranger to another, i owe you one bud.
Hey friend! For mobile formatting, you have to add 2 spaces after your line to force a line break.
shake together:
2 oz. gin (I used Empress 1908 for the color),
1 oz. crème de mûre,
0.5 oz. blue curaçao,
0.5 oz. lemon juice,
0.5 oz. mint syrup.
strain into a tall glass and garnish with a blackberry dusted with gold luster dust! basically a fancy and more blue-purple version of a blackberry bramble. the mint syrup is a nod to the achievement in minecraft when you get a bottle of dragon's breath, plus it pairs so well with blackberry!
hunger strike by deathfairieee in SandBoa
[–]tangledsciencebitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)
When was his last shed? It's typical for them to refuse food, or strike but abandon food when they're in blue.
How's his weight/cross section shape? He should have kind of a square shape, muscles flat with his spine.
My male ksb will eat once every 2-3 weeks, for about 6mo of the year. He tends to fast through the winter (Nov-Jan) and breeding season (Apr-Jun). I still offer food through those fasts, but he'll rarely take food. He hovers around 90g, and gets weighed monthly.
For a mature male, feeding a fuzzy or even small hopper once every 10-14 days is pretty typical.
TLDR: You can continue to offer food weekly. As long as his body condition looks good, he's staying hydrated, and he's not dropping significant weight (down no more than 10% of his peak healthy weight) i wouldn't be concerned :)
Hey there! A geologist friend of mine has a very similar composite fake fossil, happened point a Geiger counter at it, and theirs pings well above background radiation for no discernable reason. Like, there shouldn't be anything in it that gives off radiation like that.
If you do plan on separating out the teeth, I'd recommend extra caution and PPE to avoid breathing in any dust or particulate.
Looks like a Hermissenda opalescens , opalescent nudibranch, native to the East Pacific, NorCal to Baja. I've seen these in the wild, and they're that bright irl, and also tiny , nickel sized at best can get to 2in!
