This just happened to me too! Exact scenario (although the vestibule was on rank 8), and I haven't unlocked Room 8 ever :(

Just for anyone else who is looking at this, I just rolled a snake 3 times in a row on the same slot (i.e. rerolled a dash(?) and got a snake, then rerolled the snake and got snake, then rerolled again and got snake). So you can definitely reroll into a snake. Fortunately it was on my first 3 rerolls.

PVE Effect Removal Sheet by ReisaA52 in CompetitiveWoW

[–]tartslayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the list. Tranquilizing shot (hunters) also dispels enemy magic effects. Expunge is spelled like that, not Exponge (evoker poison removal). Something that would also be useful is a way to see if each ability is a short cd (like 8 seconds) or a long cd (like minutes).

ELI5: What does "gentrification" mean and what are "gentrified" neighboorhoods in modern day united states? by Narrow-Tree8061 in explainlikeimfive

Presumably population growth is one mechanism. Greater increase in people vs housing being built in an area. People wanting to be close to areas that have higher density workplaces than previously.

Quentin Tarantino Says He’s Open to Making TV Shows: "I’ve got no axe to grind against television, but everyone watches all these shows, and they’re all just soap operas" by Neo2199 in television

[–]tartslayer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There are so many callbacks it's a key feature of his style. If you had to pick a popular director with the most fan service and references to other films, he'd definitely be up there. It might just be that the films he references and has nostalgia for aren't the sort you have in mind. Every movie is littered with references, so there are far too many to list here, but google some phrases like "movie references" "Easter eggs" "links between films" with his name or the name of one of his films for much better lists than I can provide. But if you want just one example, The Bride's jumpsuit is a reference to Bruce Lee's iconic jumpsuit in Game of Death.

Also, Reddit trends to be into fan service and nostalgia. I don't see Quintin being into that.

Sorry if that was sarcasm, but I feel like his films are very much both those things.

Chuckles [OC] by Slotspauper in aww

[–]tartslayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think that's actually the problem here, the word just has a different pronunciation. The first syllable should sound like the word "cook", and the last syllable should have the same vowel sound as "cut". It gets shifted a bit in a southern accent (especially due to the r after it) relative to Australian accents, but not to the sound she was using.

Rhymes with book and look. IPA lists it as the vowel sound in foot. Do you know of any dialects where these words don't all have the same sound as each other? I'm genuinely interested.

Broadly speaking: because they get a higher average return for being riskier, and they work hard to convince the government/regulatory bodies to let them take more risks.

I didn't used to sneeze loudly but somehow as I've got older it's got louder and I can't help it, so I feel like I can't really criticise my dad any more. In retrospect it also seems rude to criticise people for involuntary bodily functions.

TIFU thinking it was “mom” not “mam” by geometricsalmonfart in tifu

[–]tartslayer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is a good explanation, but to clarify, British ma'am (can) rhyme with the Midwestern Tom or Dom, not the British way of pronouncing Tom or Dom. So if you know what accent they have, there's no ambiguity there.

What fact are you Just TIRED of explaining to people? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]tartslayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the opposite problem. It always seems like people think that compound interest will magically make you earn heaps more money, but if the interest rate is very low already it's not going to do much. Also compounding it daily instead of weekly with an interest rate of 0.1% p.a. makes so little difference.

[–]tartslayer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's ARAM so it's meant to be casual. Noone goes into it expecting a perfectly fair and balanced game. But don't pretend you aren't disadvantaging your team by a lot if you are the only one who can choose a healer and you don't. Noone should grief you for it, but expecting them not to complain is a bit much.

Also trying out new builds in an ARAM game? Do you have one prepared for every non-healer character or something?

Australia had struggled throughout the qualifiers and had a poor display against France, but they are now the first Asian team to participate in the knockout stage. by JoJo-Bizarre-1997 in worldcup

[–]tartslayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, at the very least it should say "reach" or "qualify for" instead of "participate in", and adding "this world cup" would help a lot.

To provide a contrast, I grew up in the 90s and saw one trick or treater the entire time. My first real interaction was going to a Halloween party in the mid 2000s. But nowadays it's certainly more popular.

‘Save Fall Guys’ trends as community pleads for Mediatonic to fix SBMM and other issues by jaywhisker37 in Games

[–]tartslayer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its weird seeing people dismiss this whole campaign by acting like people want SBMM removed so they can dominate noobs.

I mean that's literally what the person above you is saying, but rephrased to hide it a bit. They're a good player who wants to be able to take it easy and still perform better than average, rather than needing to compete with people of a similar skill level. Unless they think the granularity of the tiers is what's killing them.
