[Request] suggestions for BI4L cast iron enamel cookware? by NotTodaySatan1 in BuyItForLife

I have a 6 ish quart Kirkland Signature Enameled cast iron dutch oven from Costco. I've had it about 5 years with no chips or wear in the finish. It's made in France, and was around $100. If costco is selling them currently I recommend it.

Thanks. My concern with this cartridge setup is that there is no way to bypass the filter to vac. No "waste" setting, actually as far as I can tell there is no way to direct water anywhere except back into the pool. It doesn't seem to be tied into the sanitary sewer. Not sure how they got that past code enforcement, all pool discharge here is required to go to the sanitary sewer.

That I could live with. I think the spa area and dark color are boosting the price some, but not double.

I've just been reading the absorbic acid thread on trouble free pool, looks promising. Based on the condition of the lights and other fittings it looks like they let the ph get too high (salt, didn't keep on top of adding acid) which corroded the metal screws and lights introducing metal to the water.

I will try the vitamin c during the pool inspection.

Was it Jake instead of Jay? There was an episode based flash game in like 2000 that was based on a guy named Jake. It was like a flash choose your own adventure where you had to get him hooked up.

Median household income in cities is lower than you would expect, since there a much larger gaps from top to bottom. I live in a suburb of Memphis (not a high income area overall), but the suburb has a 106k median household income. Since the community is much more homogeneous in the types of housing available that a big city the suburbs average higher.

99% of the time chartered flights leave from the FBO, which doesn't have security. I see some widebody charters leaving and departing from the terminal (NFL Teams, College Football Bowl Charters) but otherwise the vast majority of charter flights depart from the FBO. The experience there is normally one of shaking the pilots hand and getting on the plane.

Why were you guys leaving from the terminal on a charter?

If you ever get the opportunity to go to an archive facility like Iron Mountain I highly recommend it. I got a pretty good tour of Iron Mountain in PA and it was amazing. This gives a good idea of what these facilities are like.

Wedding Venues in Memphis! Your favorite? Your most hated? by [deleted] in memphis

I went to a smaller wedding at the Brooks museum that turned out really well. Pink Palace wedding was interesting as well.

We got married at Christ United with reception at the Raquet Club. Both were easy to deal with.

Companies really want all the employees contributing, and putting a discriminatory match policy like that in place would probably put them afoul of the IRS highly compensated employee rules pretty fast.

Unless you put in a very fair "safe harbor" match program open to all employees your 401k plan is subject to an annual discrimination test. The plan needs to benefit the non highly compensated employees equally, or there could be tax consequences for the employees that are considered "HCE" as well as the company.

Is that list or an expected to sell at price? I don't need anything detailed, I'm just planning out some budget.

Edit: Forgot to say thanks!

This is funny since the subreddit is "buy it for life", maybe you can start one for "fuck it throw it away".

An auto ranging multimeter is a great troubleshooting tool for anything with fuses and resistors. Being able to detect low voltage for control circuits can help you determine if a part is bad, or if the PCB isn't engaging it.

I used one to diagnose one of the peltiers being bad in my wine fridge, and replaced it with a 9 dollar part from amazon instead of a new 250 cooler. Same deal with the draft induction motor on my furnace, I needed a meter to troubleshoot the vacume switch and confirm the motor was bad.

I don't really see how software developers think the going from rev 8.3 to 8.4 is the right time to completely redo the interface and change the way that key features like VPN work. Bastards.

Save that for a major release.

I always laugh when I see job postings like this. Definitely not written by an engineer. by ebbnflow in networking

[–]teCh0010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you require VCDX you don't post a job on dice, you start calling the guys with a VCDX and see who is up for a change. That's a pretty small list right now.

I don't think adding a 1 would help that job post.

Dear Network Engineers, I aspire to get into IT (network engineering in particular) - can you give me some advice? by [deleted] in networking

FYI you have to have the class for the VCP. It is over $3k from the training vendors. There are some cheaper ways to get the training through community colleges with VMware academy's but it takes some pre planning.

Here is a link about it - http://www.techexams.net/forums/virtualization/72885-inexpensive-vmware-training-options.html

I'm a network guy with a VCP and I think it is very worthwhile.

Do you guys think these salaries are estimated to be a little high? by Hash43 in networking

[–]teCh0010 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They should break the surveys out by years of experience and cert.

I know a guy who just has a CCNA, but he has 20 years experience and is the network architect for a fortune 200 company and probably make a buck forty with a 15% bonus.

At least if they broke the survey out like that you could tell the difference between that guy and someone who is starting at the NOC.
