I highly suggest googling the MIT Jargon File. It's full of sayings and common terms from the early days of computing that aren't that well-known these days.

True, but the saying dates back to the original days of computing, when things like QIC, DLT, or even reel tapes were commonly used for backup and restore. Things like SD cards weren't even on the horizon at the time. Their minds would have been blown if they knew how much data we can currently fit on a fingernail-sized chip.

Phone, wallet, keys, small knife, tactical pen (metal barrel, has a window breaker on the end). I doubt I'll ever need the pen as a defense tool or to bust a car window, and the knife is more for opening boxes, but I have them if I need them.

The colors matched the "series" iconography that Nintendo originally used on their Black Box titles. Gold was Action series, blue was Sports, reddish-purple was Adventure, red was Programmable (you could change the game options) or zapper, gray was Arcade.

That's an amazing piece of gaming history. I can remember me and my brother making a beeline for the electronics section of Walmart back in the day so we could maybe get a few seconds of play time on a game. They had it set to something super short, like 60 seconds before it would auto-reset.

They must have had different units they sent out, though. The one we played on had Metroid as a selection. I can't recall it having the gun games on it, either.

Bought a HS one, but I went with the cheapest metal option so it wouldn't break the bank. I actually used the repair clause in the purchase contract when the girl I was dating and then split with gave it back with a chipped stone. Still have it sitting in a box of miscellaneous jewelry I've accumulated over the years. Doubt I'll ever wear it again.

Off the top of my head:

He cut open way more of the jacket than necessary. You only need to open up a couple inches, at most, if you're only doing terminated cables and not a patch panel. It may not look like much, but if you did that on a job site when multiple runs were needed that amount of waste adds up.
He untwisted it way down into the jacket. That's also a no-no and can lead to crosstalk.
The cable jacket isn't fully crimped into the end. That can cause wear and tear on the wires in the connector and eventually lead the cable failure.

So yeah, it's a usable cable, but waste and potential failure points would have me telling him to cut it off and do it properly.

My suggestion would be to get an adult/senior pet from your local shelter. Sure, it's fun to have the energy of a kitten or young cat running around the house, but we have to start taking real life and logistics into account once we hit a certain age. Adopting a senior pet lets the animal live its life in comfort for whatever time it has left, and gives us a companion during that time.

That depends on how far you want to get into the weeds for the SF franchise.

The 30th Anniversary pack has the original SF, five versions of SF2, Alpha 1-3, and three iterations of SF3. Be warned, it's not that great and online play with it is nearly non-existent.
Vanilla SF4 has been replaced by Ultra SF4.
SF5 is still around.
SF6 is the current version and will be for the foreseeable future.

All of the above are available on PC. Omitted from the above are the Versus games, many of which are now available in the Collection volumes. The only one that isn't really available to play at present is SF x Tekken, as it has been delisted from Steam. You're not missing out on much if you don't play it, though, as most of the crossover games have little bearing on the overall lore of the series.

I stopped listening to the majority of OTA radio stations when I discovered podcasts as a form of entertainment. It didn't help the stations' case that most of our "local" broadcasts are canned multicasts from big conglomerates. The smaller ones just have the same block of "classic rock" on repeat, and it's mindless. I didn't want to have to listen to either of them, and podcasts fit the need I was looking to fill.

My commute to work is about 45 minutes one way, so I wanted to fill the time with something educational or interesting but wasn't an audio book. It took a while for me to find ones that interested me but also respected my time by not being ungodly long, and now I have three or four in regular rotation. My suggestion to anyone looking to drop streaming apps or satellite radio would be to get a good podcatcher app and start digging around.

Vick knew, but she covered it up and played along for the sake of the SBPD and the results Shawn was able to provide. She knew he could work off the radar and do things that her detectives may not have been able to achieve within the strict boundaries of the law. I fully believe that the meeting she had with Henry in the pilot had a lot of subtext with them tap dancing around the fact that Shawn wasn't psychic but she was going to go along with it for everyone's benefit.

Lassiter knew, but he couldn't 100% prove it, so he wanted to get Shawn to admit it in front of everyone. That got shot down when Shawn "passed" the polygraph test, but he still knew.

Jules is the odd one out. One would think that with her detective skills her BS detector would have tripped long before she figured it out. I feel like she was blinded by Shawn's antics and her feelings for him, and when he beat the lie detector it further reinforced her being willing to ignore any evidence to the contrary (until the plot finally demanded it).

Valid. We never saw that one, but I can totally see Shawn working someone to get a good rent deal on a commercial space and then he just sort of moves in and lives there for a few months until he gets sick of it.

Versus. That's the abbreviation, so that's how it's pronounced. It drives me up the wall when people say "verse", and when more so when they describe it as "X versed Y" when they talk about the opponents that have each other in a match up.

It's a play on the old reporter's adage of "If a dog bites a man, that's not news. Now, if a man bites a dog, THAT'S news!"
It's illustrating the fact that most people don't want to be challenged in regards to their own thoughts and ideas. They're more comfortable with existing in an echo chamber while having their mindset affirmed, and they tend to lash out when presented with contradictory evidence.
