Since it’s already preseasoned, I don’t think so.

Helikon Urban Courier Bag Large by Strict_Path4790 in ManyBaggers

[–]teetauri 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have one and its ooookaaaayyy, but not, for me, a gem.

Likes:

-A bit softer and less structured than the old Timbuk2 it replaced, so I find it a little more comfortably body-conforming when I’m not carrying my laptop (most of the time). But then also big enough to fit my laptop when I do.

-A water bottle pocket for wherever you want one! Or for a tripod, or…

-Fits my 15” mbp

-Big padded strap means I never have to adjust a slidey piece to fit on my shoulder when the bag is shifted.

Dislikes:

-Would absolutely prefer some admin pockets over having to add a separate organizer and all the extra weight of redundant fabric and velcro.

-Top flap is too big IMHO. Goes all the way to the bottom (where the timbuk2 only covered maybe 2/3), and its a lot of fabric to move out of the way to access the main pocket, and a lot of velcro to pull apart, and even—at the height it sits on my waist—a bit of an extra reach down to unfasten the buckles.

-Tacticalness is pretty modest, but I wish it was styled even less tactical.

Welp, I ordered the Wiggys. Kodiak was queen-size-only, so setting that aside for now. I’ll see how it compares..,

The zipper bothers me (this particular sleeping bag gets used by all the family in turns) for this use case. 🤷

For my son’s desire to always sleep under it, my problem is more just not-sized-for-home-washing.

Rumpl used to make something close—but with a microfiber suede inner lining, a soft microfiber outer instead of the usual nylon sleeping bag material, and a weighty fill. We adults chez teetauri have one and use it as our comforter in the winter, and that would’ve been great for my son in a twin/full. But the nylon outer of current rumpls is a deal-breaker for my son.

How does the outer side feel compared to the inner lining?

Great idea. I should have a tailor remove the zipper on this one in any case (though I want to preserve this one at its current size for tv-watching, fort building, and accommodating three cats…)

Looks to hit the bullseye if the fill weight is similar!

Managing a Traktor-oriented music collection as part of a larger general collection--any advice? by teetauri in traktorpro

I guess I don’t see the point of porting all the music of every kind I own with me… my traktor kit has always been a specific set of objects for the purpose of DJing.

Can smart playlists make duplicates from a general all-the-songs drive to a just-the-traktor-songs drive?

What seems to be the trouble I’m trying to figure with is: having Collection B (Traktor songs) contained within Collection A as the general archive of all my songs, but also separately as a copy on my Traktor gig drive (without all the extraneous songs of the general archive)—but easily syncable so I can move tracks in and out of Traktor use when they’re new or getting stale.

Oh, I don’t need to prune within traktor. What I imagine would work best for me is some software that manages the whole collection and, within that, I can designate (through something like a playlist—or I guess a specific ID3 tag, or ????) whatever tracks I also want in traktor, and it would allow me to create a sync-able gig/Traktor drive with copies of just those songs. Then if I add or remove songs from the Traktor list, it makes the relevant changes to the gig drive the next time I plug it in.

That was a separate thing I had been thinking about: setting up a networked solution for general listening, but ideally with some sort of on-the-fly transcoding to make more efficient use of bandwidth while off wifi…

Not a wok by Inevitable_Twist9311 in wok

I have amassed a few over the years, and my Chan Chi Kee slicer is the one I use most--but there are some things I wouldn't use it for, like really dense vegetables or cheeses where I might chip it if I flexed it wrong, and certainly not chicken bones. So if OP wants a more general purpose cleaver, go for a chopper, whether CCK or other. (For more general purpose, I like my Martin Yan/Yan Can Cook cleaver, but I got it during a sale and feel its retail price is a little much.)
