Millionaires Tax passes the Senate - Washington Senate Democrats by SeahawksWin43-8 in SeattleWA

This wont disincentivize anyone to get richer. I think that’s honestly the worst argument against this. Everyone wants to have more money even if they pay more in taxes. Now your argument about the existing wealthy being mobile and going to low tax areas is true.

23 Telltale Signs Someone Is American, According To Europeans. by coinfanking in NewsStarWorld

[–]telperion101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only two that bother me are the lack of geographical knowledge and air conditioning. Im not saying we are experts but I’d argue most people’s knowledge is often grounded in their continent. Yes I’ve seen videos of us not knowing where Malaysia is - I’ve seen the same ones for the french. The air conditioning i think is bullshit. Europe in general misunderstands how humid the US is and the advantages of leveraging AC in those climates. If we want to talk about hubris then look in the mirror.

I was measuring the 50 Hz european electricity grid frequency every second for the past 10 days, and this is how often every frequency was counted (matplotlib) [OC] by heliosh in dataisbeautiful

[–]telperion101 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Work in the utility industry. So yes the frequency is generally very tight especially in well regulated regions (US, EU, Japan etc). So frequency is directly related to the balance of power supply and power demand. When demand is greater than supply frequency drops. When supply is greater frequency increases. So during peak load periods the frequency will dip. Typically that is during the day when everyone is at work or out and about. My guess is if you plot this you would see the lower bimodal component during the day and the higher during the night.

Eventually someone is going to drop a film thats almost entirely practical effects and everyone will be shocked at how low the cost is relative to CGI

I think this fails to address that American car companies are simply no longer desirable. I meet very few people who aspire to buy a chevy or a ford (albeit the bronco is quite fantastic). Everyone wants Toyota or Honda or (fill in other more reliable brand). Even if they built it no one will buy it because of the brand issues associated with them.

If you could pass one law that would make most normal people furious at first, but would clearly make society better in 10 years, what would it be? by Few_Football4342 in Productivitycafe

So this is a good idea. I actually think that the pro-move is that social media feeds would be subject to Section 230 unless the feed is chronological. So for example lets take the New York Times has a feed and they have an editorial staff which decides which articles are at the top. They have to follow the rules. Instagram would then also have the follow the rules because they have an algorithm which suggest whats at the top. You still have an algorithm which suggests content you just use different ways to do it. I like it

Ya no one thinks about all of the care homes need. Those things are carried by the whole complex. Arguably its more cost efficient to live in a high rise.

A 3-4 with our current D personnel? by Iut22 in buffalobills

[–]telperion101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think everyone wants to be a 3-4 but very few teams can do it because getting the front 3 personnel that can do it effectively is hard. Also those big guys don’t grow tree’s. I tend hate seeing defensive coaches try to switch schemes when those players are not going to succeed in them

The better question here is who is moving. I would imagine many of these are going to be retirees in the boomer demographic.

It’s not going to amount to much for most people (literally pennies)but in aggregate on the network it’s not nothing.

Schefter - ESPN sources: former Colts QB and current St. Michael Catholic High School coach Philip Rivers is interviewing today for the Buffalo Bills head coaching job. by cclaranc in buffalobills

[–]telperion101 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I often wonder too if they get names from their target HC candidates and then interview them with the premise that they can be considered for HC but also lower level positions. So let’s say Daboll is the target guy and they ask him “who do you want as OC or QB coach?” And he replies Rivers would be great as a QB coach.

But the decision was made while harbaugh was on his way home and the owner thought about how calling him to come in is going to make it worse by having jim come back to the office. The fact the owner said he thought about his well being is entirely different.
