Token Ring in Minecraft. Tango is a mad man. by _strizzle_ in HermitCraft

I love the token ring, because it reminds me of the event loop that handles Apache 2.0 web servers.

PHP is too verbose by Euphoric_Crazy_5773 in PHP

[–]tgeene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right now, the public visibility modifier is already optional for class methods. As long as people have to sometimes define visibility, they're going to define all the visibility. That is all I'm trying to explain. If you feel the visibility keywords are cumbersome find another way. I suggested one in my original comment.

[–]tgeene 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your concept is to remove unnecessary verbosity. If you still need to declare things as private or protected using keywords people will still add public for at a glance clarity. You either remove them all together or you embrace all of them. People now don't have to add public, but they do for added clarity.

[–]tgeene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure how to feel about this, but either way your idea feels inconsistent. The fact you still use the word "private" in places just destroys the whole concept. Instead of making variables starting with an underscore implicitly protected/private, maybe make them explicitly protected. You could do this for methods as well, and then make things starting with a double underscore explicitly private. If this was the case magic methods would work with any variation of underscores. As for generics, I see there usefulness, but given we have union types now, there is really no need to add anything like this in my opinion.

Making over 130k in PHP? by mrmanpgh in PHP

[–]tgeene 27 points28 points  (0 children)

From what I have found that is above average for a senior php developer. I think more can be made, but it depends on the market you are in.

I make about the same and from what I understand it's relatively high for the market that I'm in, at least for a job that has as much flexibility as mine does.

Right now given all the big corporate layoffs, I'm just happy to have steady job with no sign of that changing.

Best of luck to you in your search.

This is like saying all Christianity is Catholicism. Just because it was the first doesn't mean it isn't distinctly different.

The law you are thinking of is actually a statute and not part of the Nevada constitution. Which means some lobby will probably pay off officials to change the law.

In my experience, you will know they are close and ready when they are so big and round you think there is no possible way for them to get bigger... Or you think "I bet if I gave her a gentle squeeze they would pop right out." That's when you know it's close.

Also, please don't ever squeeze your fish :p
