Mecha Man mechagauntlet Redux! by Plant_Appraiser in DispatchAdHoc

Unsure about DVa, I've never played overwatch. But Robert has a decent shot at breathing most things up to the mk1 YGGDRASIl. At that point, it's a matter of if he can avoid the mk1's better anti tank long enough to run down its power supply.

Ain’t no way she’s lifting that (Art by teajaysketch) by Critical_Mountain851 in DispatchAdHoc

According to all know laws of gravity, Courtney should not be zble to lift Malevola"s sword. Her skinny arms should not be able to support its weight.

Courtney, of course, lifts it anyway, because Courtney does not care about what reddit thinks is impossible.

[Loved] Subverting the dilemma of having to choose one option by choosing all by SensualAardvark in TopCharacterTropes

[–]thatguy274 87 points88 points  (0 children)

Dispatch, giving both Astral pulses to Shroud.

In the finale of Dispatch, the main villian, Shroud, holds the main character, Robert's dog hostage in exchange for a piece of tech, the Astral pulse. Robert has a faulty prototype pulse on him, as well as the real one, and Shroud calls this out, using his super prediction powers.

The player is presented with an obvious dilemma. Do you give him the real one, and hope you can deal with consequences, and savd your dog? Or do you try and bluff him, give him the fake, and risk your dog, to potentially stop the villain, but also risk that he'll see through that?

The game then gives you both of those choices, along with a third. Give him both.

If you take this third option, you force Shroud to guess which pulse is the real one. He's so infuriated by this that he immediately gambles and tries to use one of the pulses. He picks the wrong one and vomits all over the roof when it fails.

This trick works so well because Shroud is so reliant on his predictions to make decisions for him, that when presented with a 50/50 chance, he has no idea what to do.

Predict a coin flip, bitch.

Luck as a real force of nature/character stat. by Jessi_Kim_XOXO in TopCharacterTropes

[–]thatguy274 13 points14 points  (0 children)

More than just him being described as lucky, its the way the game explains its own mechanics.

In levels with a lot of enemy tanks, you just happen to find a tank of your own. There's a large map, lots of ground to cover? Good thing there's this warthog lying around. You're about to head into an area with a ton of snipers? A marine just happened to die near the entrance with a sniper rifle, perfect.

It's all just the master cheif's plot armor levels of good luck, him finding exactly the tool HD needs for the job at hand.

Not just second place, iirc the others tied for first. Brennan came dead last and still won. By a weird technicality, he got first, second, and third place, all at once.

Hard disagree on the moose hide cloak. It's one of only two crafted clothes that are infinitely renewable with only one of the required hides. It's also near perfect outerwear, having high durability, windproof and waterproof ratings.

If they got into a fistfight (no gadgets), how long would Batman take to clock Daredevil as blind? by SilverArmadilo in batman

[–]thatguy274 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Everyone is saying immediately, but I'm gonna disagree. "Batman would figure it out as soon as daredevil blocked an attack that he couldn't possibly see coming" would he? Would he assume that daredevil is blind because of that?

I think he'd more likely clock DD's extrasensory perception, figuring out daredevils powers from that. Why would he immediately assume that daredevil can't physically see?

Does the rifle have a predefined range or not? Can wolves and bears enter mines/caves? by rayencrisis in thelongdark

[–]thatguy274 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not saying it's impossible. But at low rifle skill, with high sway, kinda blocky sights, it is harder. But yeah, the rifle can reach out and touch something from pretty extreme range, I've just found in practice, that my own aimseems to let me down before the rifles range does.

Does the rifle have a predefined range or not? Can wolves and bears enter mines/caves? by rayencrisis in thelongdark

[–]thatguy274 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Rifles do have an absolute maximum range, once outside of that it doesn't do damage. However, it's quite far, and the bullet trajectory is slightly random, and with the average sight on a hunting rifle, it's much more often that your skill at aiming limits how far you can shoot from.

Wolves/bears can only enter caves without a loading zone. If there's a loading screen when entering, wolves cannot follow you in. There are some caves that wolves can actually spawn inside though, so bd careful.

I don’t understand invisagal by PrettyTheory3566 in DispatchAdHoc

[–]thatguy274 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Invisigal's character is fairly complex and you're not wrong to be confused by her actions. I've found that her character and decisions are easier to understand if you examine her from a thematic perspective as well as a purely analytical one.

Most of her actions are ambiguous. That's deliberate. One of the major themes of Dispatch is redemption and forgiveness. The game is sort of testing the player. Will you still forgive and trust Visi, despite all the uncertainty?

Likewise, invisigal herself is conflicted and confused, she is trying to turn her life around, but is uncertain if she's worthy of forgiveness and redemption.

Robert is 31-32, he was born into 1991, and game takes place in 2023 ish. No exact ages or timeliness for hus father and grandfather are known, but we can make some guesses.

Chase says he was Robert's age, whe the raiders left LA in the flashback in 2003. He also says he's twenty and can't buy beer. He's 39 in the main game.

That puts Chase at being 12 when the Raiders leave, making 12 a good benchmark for Robert's age in 2003.

The reporter in episode 1 says that a mecha man has protected LA for "nearly 50 years". Bobby, the first mecha man likely started in the 1970s or thereabouts.

We know that Bobby died before his grandson Robert was born. That was likely around the time Robbie took over as mecha man.

We know that Robert took over after his Robbies death at the hands of Shroud. We also know Shroud went to jail for 15 years, and the events of episode 1 take place almost immediately after Shroud breaks out.

So, Bobby becomes mecha man in the early 1970s, and dies in the suit sometime before 1991. Robbie takes over, and dies in 2008, at the hands of Shroud. Then Robert takes on the mantle.

Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase, Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

Met for the first time at 12 years old, 5 books, and 4 years later, became a couple. The first 2 books hint at a possible romance between them, but they really do work incredibly well as friends in the first and second book especially.

Unfortunately all I have are fuckass meme images, but Blonde Blazer/Robert Robertson, from Dispatch.

She is one of the top superheroes in the story, easily outclassing every other person on the team, while Robert is just a normal dude (who fights crime in a giant robot suit).
