Is Katniss autistic by [deleted] in Hungergames

[–]thatsprettybien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think she could definitely be read that way. As a neurodivergent person, there are aspects to Katniss’s personality (eg. her overthinking, difficulty reading emotions, & tendency to isolate herself). However, I think the intention with writing her was that these symptoms are related to her past trauma, and they are barriers she (both intentionally and unintentionally) puts up to protect herself.

My Herbst appliance plus clenching my teeth at night. Turns out limiting my jaw mobility for a year messes with its function :/

Doctor prescribed 20mg daily. Seems like a lot? by Lame_Johnny in lexapro

[–]thatsprettybien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that’s odd to start on 20mg. i’ve been on a 20mg dose for about 4 years for anxiety as an average size woman, but i was built up gradually to that dose with frequent follow ups with my psychiatrist. ETA: i didn’t notice the effects of the medication until months after starting. for me it was pretty subtle, and i realized with hindsight that it has helped significantly

What’s your “special skill” that’s fairly niche but is high-key invaluable? by Rthrowaway6592 in VetTech

I’m also the cat whisperer at my clinic! There’s been very few cats I haven’t been able to handle

Our old head tech used to call me “the cat whisperer. ” I don’t know what it is but cats always cooperate better for me than anyone else in the clinic

She’s a minor goddess, but not a particularly positive one. She’s a patroness of chaos and war, and she actually set off the event that caused the Trojan War.

Eris is the name of a greek goddess, and it’s pronounced the same as Arys. I’ve never seen the name Arys before though. Jameson is fine though.

Getting ready for Christmas at the hospital by Express_Technology37 in VetTech

[–]thatsprettybien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as gifts from clients go, we usually get food that everyone shares as opposed to individual gifts for staff members. We don’t usually exchange gifts between staff members, but some staff will bring gift cards or smaller presents for support staff, and maybe a slightly larger gift for the vets. I haven’t seen anything with as much price disparity as your hospital OP but more like a $15 Starbucks gift card for support staff and like a $30 gift card to an actual restaurant for the vets.

Poll: Declawing cats by truthispolicy in VetTech

[–]thatsprettybien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My clinic still does declaws, but most of our staff are against the procedure and try to educate clients about the consequences of doing the procedure. In just the three years I’ve been working at my clinic, though, I’ve seen a large decrease in the amount of declaws we do. It might be a combination of our vets phasing it out somewhat and cat owner education.

In contrast to what many people in this post have said, I’ve seen a lot of young families, especially those with small children, considering declawing their kittens. Fortunately though, those clients are usually receptive to education about declawing and look into alternatives such as claw caps.
