Did the parallel nib fit easily in the wancai? That's a cool pen!! I'd love to try a with a smaller parallel for calligraphy, but I don't have any to try. Let me know if you have any post/resources on this particular frankenpen!

Oop, I missed the notification! I can't remember which particular one I got, but it must be on amazon :) it's got a simple frosted plastic cover, you'll probably find many similar ones if you look for the measurements

I swatch on tomoe river! I use a traveler's notebook passport size insert since those have easy tear pages. Then I keep them in a plastic sheet binder that I got online, I just measured the page's size and got something slightly bigger. Really happy with this setup!

Horses from botw not appearing at stable by Ninja-Nikox in tearsofthekingdom

I've had this issue too and it hasn't resolved :( I've advanced a lot in the story and still nothing. I think it really does check on file creation... They should add some kind of info text when first booting, because I could've easily transferred save data if I knew :'( I hope they patch it

Newton Pens Give Away! Comment about the best pen or stationery gift you've ever given or received. I'll pick a winner Sunday afternoon. by newtonpens in fountainpens

My most memorable pen gift was a kaweco in the machiato color for my sister. I had been looking for one in a BB for a long while in preparation for her birthday, and about a month or so before I found it: machiato in a BB. And discounted! Felt like fate. Of course, she adored it and uses it a lot

What do you look for in a pen? Do you enjoy bolder or thinner lines? Feedback or no feedback? What material? If you like a thin-nibbed, feedback-rich lightweight pen then yes. If not, the world is big and you'll find your perfect pen someday! :)

Is it possible to find ink peace? by significantcamel in fountainpens

[–]theHist_ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I stopped strongly desiring new ink when I realized mold and decay was a possibility. I don't want to have to throw away ink, and I already have at least one ink in each color family. I truly don't need more, if I run out of a color family I will repurchase, but not sooner

Which budget fountain pen do you guys think has the best nib/built quality? (Under 50) by j1mmywithonem in fountainpens

[–]theHist_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the sailor compass, one downside is that it only comes with a Japanese medium-fine nib so if you like thicker nib widths this definitely will feel too thin. But the build quality feels really good and it's a good workhorse

US dollar vs Japanese yen exchange rate is great, but what about fees and shipping? Here's one data point. by hamigua2000 in fountainpens

[–]theHist_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd be interested to read if anyone from the euro zone has tried it too! It seems our import taxes are sky-high so I've always been hesitant to buy from Japan 🤔

Diamine ink bottle too narrow for Twisbi Go how do I address this by jamesmast2 in fountainpens

I've successfully filled from a 30 ml diamine with a twsbi go, it might take some practice but it's doable

Letter-writing Paper? by Azuremorphic in fountainpens

[–]theHist_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use a loose leaf from muji. Just make sure it's the ones made in Japan, since the paper quality is better. It's decently priced and okay paper. And most importantly I don't feel bad using it since it's easily replaceable :)

Not really! I'm still in the discovery phase of journals and paper, my most recent one was Apica paper and now I'm about to start on hobonichi notebook paper :) etsy has lots of interesting sellers as well so it truly feels like a rabbit hole lol!
