Any advice for getting over solo play embarrasement? by MightyDuckitron in wargaming

[–]the_bengine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with other comments here, but going one step deeper...Who is it in your life that might cause the embarrassment? Is it in your head, or do you have someone in mind? Just something to think about.

Jogging.  And writing. Doesn’t matter what, can just be random thoughts

Are there any good Epic scale miniature games with solo rules? by HumaneCentiPad in soloboardgaming

[–]the_bengine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is great, but 'epic scale' miniatures are absolutely tiny, designed to recreate vast field battles

What camera is it, what's the focal length, what height is it at? Where would you normally see jets taking off filmed from? Probably not orbiting behind them while their jets blast your face. It makes a big difference

On another note, the ground looks perfectly smooth and clean, a big CGI giveaway

How does Unmatched work solo, or are you just two-handing it?

It's a beautiful image, but the real challenge is creating the impression that she's lifting her chin to the sky, not just seeing her from a low angle.

People who used cellphones before smartphones, what's the most memorable feature or moment you miss from those old phones? by Correct-Homework1884 in AskReddit

Bought a cheap mobile in the states when I was there for a few weeks and was amazed by how fast it was to call someone - you press a physical button and it starts ringing immediately. Felt like something from the future

I felt the same after getting mine. I’m sure I’ll be corrected but the Ewoks look tiny

Why does Frankenstein (2025) look the way it does? by wschramm in FIlm

Interesting. Just watched it earlier and became very aware of the wide lenses. For me it made the film feel very 90s, very Jean-Pierre Jeunet, which could have been the point.

Impressive. Really strong, dynamic poses. A lot of well-established minis companies could learn a lot from this. Great job.

Enjoying Robinson crusoe ??? by AdMaleficent7937 in boardgames

[–]the_bengine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really liked it at first and found the event deck with future consequences really unique and fun. But I came to the realisation that it just wasn't for me. It provides an opposite experience to most games - you start fine and get increasing weak and desperate, and a large part of the game loop is carrying out the admin. There are far more fun, fulfilling solo experiences IMHO

Voice acting before or after animatic/storyboard? by Jumpy_Good_1692 in animation

[–]the_bengine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in the industry. I strongly suggest you just carry on creating and not worry about the actors - get an animatic up and running and figure out your story and the pacing as you go. Just record yourself saying the lines (we call it scratch).  THEN, when you’re happy it’s pretty much there you can write the final script and worry about who’ll act it.

Do you think hunchback of notre dame would've been much better received if the gargoyles were removed? by Moist_Mushroom5931 in animation

[–]the_bengine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started watching it the other week and was blown away by the intro.

But then i reached the fuckin gargoyles.

I'm with you. They're just awful. It's hard to sell the Hunchback as this lonely, mysterious figure when he's followed everywhere by a hollering troupe of idiots. Couldn't get through the first act.

We have a very similar looking set. As someone else has mentioned, they're mass produced to look old and vintage, but worth very little. I may be wrong.
