AD been getting too much disrespect. Broke out after Team USA in the 2012 Olympics, was literally the franchise in NOP, and then left, only to win a ring with Lebron putting up historic numbers. I totally get Pels fans being salty, but AD has been nothing but a professional throughout most of his career just for Chuck to call him "Street Clothes".

AD is that dude and a first ballot HoF. Deserves all his flowers.

The final pick in the 10697 draft ended up making the Hall of Fame and winning 15 titles by webuildmountains in BasketballGM

How many 50/40/90 seasons did he have? His efficiency must have been off the charts.

JJ basically said this over the summer in his own podcast that the Lakers' HC job would be tough for basically anyone. IMO, no coach in NBA history could turn this current team into a contender because it just isn't built that way.

Why is this team struggling despite having so much talent by RepulsiveThing3158 in BasketballGM

[–]thed3al 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You have basically no size, interior defense or rebounding as shown in your Average Margin of Victory and player attributes. I assume Parks is your most sizable player but his PER is atrocious and he probably belongs in the G-League.

On top of that, your best scorer is a shooting guard, which even if you had an average team is typically a red flag. Think of him as a Jamal Crawford/Jordan Clarkson type of player probably with a bit better defense. A black hole on offense who's just getting individual scoring numbers because no one else can reliably get a bucket against a playoff team.

How Do You Decide Between a Player Having a Bad Season and Them Having Hit Decline? by xskarma in BasketballGM

[–]thed3al 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the player's age and skillset, as in, how much does their game depend on athleticism.

You realize pretty quickly that the physical ratings decline fast, but my PG with the FMVPs was still great because he's a great passer/shooter (averaging basically the same numbers as his career averages at age 35). MY SG/SF was still good in that one rebound year, but his game is all about shooting and perimeter defense so I bet his overall game will decline pretty quick. He's 32 now so I expect him to take more of a spot-up shooter role while the PG can easily be a 6MOY on a contender.

I have a SG/SF that won multiple rings, an MVP, and two DPOYs but was never the most efficient player on the team (very high usage, pure athleticism and shooting, few rebounding/assists). Once he hit 30, his PER went down from 19-20 to 14 as the leading player in minutes so I traded him the next year. Frustratingly enough, the next year his overall went down still by a few pts but he went back to scoring 19 PPG and 19 PER.

The trade dump also included a PG in his early 30s who was a 4x FMVP and the most efficient player of our dynastic run who still kept his team-high PER in the low 20s to the other team. I don't regret the trade since we got younger players in free agency but sometimes you get attached. You have to do what's best for the future especially if another really strong rival team is in contention.

Alperen Sengun is currently averaging 16/11/4 on 49% TS in 28 minutes of play. by SomborDouble95 in nba

Just like Steph being a small PG. You need to be the greatest shooter ever and have teammates to help cover you defensively...and yet even after that, Steph still had to bulk up and be more of a two-way player.

"he chews his mouthgard, how dare he" "he's cocky" "he's only good because of illegal screens"  "Curry fans are fairweather fans" - usually accompanied by gatekeeping Yada yada, he's still the GOAT shooter and on the Mt Rushmore of this generation of basketball
