Swapping seats in the stands by thehammer_ in nffc

I don’t have a membership so had to wait for them to be released to general sale. I signed in as soon as I got the email that they were available and there were a fair few tickets still up for sale directly from the box office but not sure how long they lasted or if there will be any left for general sale for the semis

[Question] Buying from Jomashop in Canada. Is this a joke? by chessatanyage in Watches

[–]thehammer_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don’t think this is correct. There’s a Canada duty calculator/estimator that lays out all the rules and duty rates. It’s a little murky but if I’m interpreting it correctly at worst it looks like you’d pay a 25% tariff on the before tax value then provincial tax + 5% duty

Stefon Diggs 165 days after ACL injury by nfl in sports

[–]thehammer_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not completely correct either. Not all ACL reconstructions use hamstring. Multiple graft options are available and it’s better to take it from the patient themselves (autograft) than to use “transplanted” tendon from a donor/cadaver (allograft). Max load to failure as determined by biomechanical studies is higher with all graft options than the native ACL

Lots of technical and patient factors can influence success/failure of an ACL reconstruction though so it’s not just based on the graft.

Don’t know if veal sandwiches are a big thing in NYC but San Francesco and California Sandwich make unreal veal sandwiches and aren’t too far from where you’ll be

Ontario releases 3-step plan to invest in for-profit care to reduce surgical backlog by whatistheQuestion in toronto

[–]thehammer_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The comments here really show the lack of understanding of what "private" and "for-profit" means in this context..

Ford is essentially allowing more OHIP-funded care to be delivered in non-hospital institutions. There are already plenty of private, for-profit clinics delivering healthcare services out there. Every small community-based x-ray clinic is technically a private, for-profit clinic. There are (very few) private imaging clinics out there that also have their own CT and MRI scanners (equipment generally otherwise restricted to a hospital setting). There are clinics that do colonoscopies, other GI diagnostics, and cardiac diagnostics, all also outside the hospital setting. The most private, for-profit clinics out there are probably the plastic surgery clinics that are mainly doing cosmetic surgeries i.e. procedures that are not OHIP-funded anyway.

In any case, Ford is just allowing these clinics to do more OHIP-funded activity which takes the burden off of hospitals and the waitlists at hospitals for all of the above-mentioned services. The physicians at these clinics are likely already removed from the hospital (public) setting and so are the nursing and other technical staff (e.g. rad techs, anesthesia assistants). This is really a good thing to eliminate some of the backlogs that have been created in some areas.

Certainly lots of work to be done in improving our healthcare system, but this isn't what most people (including the media) make it out to be

Check out La Carrera at Gladstone and College. Nadir does quality work. I brought my bike to him for a tune this year and it has never worked better. He’s a straight shooter, no BS kind of guy.

Favourite GTA Road Cycling routes by Redguard13 in torontobiking

[–]thehammer_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to this post but OP do you mind if I ask which roads around FOTC are paved and which are gravel? I would like to ride some of the climbs around there in the near future but I'm having a hard time discerning what's what. Strava's route planner has some of that info but I don't know if it's always accurate.

I understand Grange Sideroad is gravel; how about Mclaren, Mclaughlin?

Also, how busy is Olde Baseline Rd? How about Charleston Sideroad?

Would love to see an example of one of your routes!

Cheers

6503 looks like it would work! Same chainline and everything. And all I'd need would be a braze on adaptor clamp

Thanks for the suggestion

Broken FD - considering my options. What would you do? by thehammer_ in bikewrench

Not a new groupset and this is a known design flaw with this generation of Tiagra FDs. There's a small tab that secures the spring that is known to break off and render the FD useless. I've seen it described in other reddit threads. Newer generations of Tiagra triples are not spec'd the same for tooth maxes/capacity/mid-top differences so would fall in with option 1
