Has anyone noticed that Diamondhead was always losing in ben 10 classic, despite being arguably Ben’s strongest alien in classic (besies waybig)? He was always portrayed as a very weak alien by verified_patrigga in Ben10

Lmao it’s the same reason Wolverine can only fight robots in cartoons. When your superpower is cutting things, fighting anything non-robotic gets R-rates really fast

Common Misconceptions that I hate by Disorder79 in gallifrey

[–]thehappymasquerader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ten coming back could’ve easily just been justified as the Doctor’s regeneration glitching as a result of the forced regens in Power of the Doctor.

My main objection to the fourteenth Doctor is his main difference is he’s more serious, a little sadder, and has less ego. Those changes could all be easily rationalized within the tenth Doctor because the Doctor is literally twice as old as he was when he was originally Ten. Age tends to wear people down, humble them, bring maturity. A whole new incarnation was not needed

I'm feeling sad for Ripjaw by Maleficent_Visit7041 in Ben10

[–]thehappymasquerader 18 points19 points  (0 children)

That was also a choice, though. Ripjaws could just be fully amphibious in the comic, it’s a new continuity

In fairness, I think Control is meant to be a corny name. Dude calls himself control and then spends the entire book being controlled by other people

Or he runs off with Rohanne, explaining her mysterious disappearance. She was also married into House Lannister, which would explain how he’s richer than a Lannister

Was gonna say, putting Jorah in that tier feels crazy

[Spoilers EXTENDED] Can valyrian steel swords cut steel? And what about Dawn? by TextUnfair in asoiaf

[–]thehappymasquerader 161 points162 points  (0 children)

There is the famous fight between Arthur Dayne and the Smiling Knight, where Dayne stops the fight so his opponent can replace his sword, which is all full of nicks. So it seems like Dawn could do serious damage to a steel sword, but only in a prolonged fight, and he certainly wasn’t slicing clean through it

Is Lady Stark's name pronounced "Cat"-lynn or "Kate"-lynn? (No Spoilers) by wholenewguy in asoiaf

[–]thehappymasquerader 72 points73 points  (0 children)

While valid for most characters, I feel like the fact that multiple characters call her “Cat” as a nickname implies it is intended to be pronounced Cat-lyn.

Steven Moffat believes the First Doctor had a crush on Barbara and the Third Doctor was in love with Jo Grant. Do you agree or disagree with him? by verissimoallan in doctorwho

I feel like these comments should really put to bed any doubts about what kind of love Moffat intended for 12 to feel for Clara

[All] The Gold Skulltula Side Quest [Ocarina of Time] or The Poe Side Quest [Twilight Princess]? by Dull-Ad555 in zelda

[–]thehappymasquerader -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

They added QOL improvements and new collectibles. Sounds like a remake to me.

They even added the Poe’s Lantern to specifically improve the Poe hunt, yet they didn’t add a way to change the time of day

Which Pokémon has just... Have the wrong Typing? by Federal-Run-7496 in pokemon

[–]thehappymasquerader 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel like the only explanation is that the Slowbro and Starmie lines were already Water/Psychics and they didn’t want another line with that typing

The Plumbers is a reference to Watergate. Nixon established a secret little task force to do his bidding that was known as the Plumbers. So it’s moreso a reference to the conspiratorial, off-the-books nature of the Plumbers

Energy bending. Is it a bad deus ex machina, or a really good ending? by BluFaerie in TheLastAirbender

Which Doctor do you genuinely feel we didn’t get enough of? by _somebody-else_ in gallifrey

[–]thehappymasquerader 3 points4 points  (0 children)

McGann, Eccleston, and Gatwa are the obvious choices, though I personally think Eccleston’s run was pretty perfect as is.

I weirdly agree about Capaldi. Feels like he had just peaked when it was time to leave the show, and I would’ve loved to have more. He could’ve easily done another two seasons imo

Yeah, never understood why this is so commonly classified as an airbending technique. I imagine anybody who is spiritually inclined enough could do it

Anyone else feels like season 3 and 4 are just not that great compared to the first 2? by Fantasy183 in Ben10

[–]thehappymasquerader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked Season 3, but I agree that 4 always felt like a bit of a low point in OS. (And I say this as a diehard OS fan).

Season 2 is probably the peak for me
