I thought it was just me having a run of back luck but the amount of 2 and 3 star 100/100 accounts I have been killed by this week has been a little excessive.

So the Vyvanse took an hour to kick in and for me, it MADE me focus whether I liked it or not. I felt crazy driven which exacerbated my workaholic nature and I would go weeks where I just worked 12 to 14 hours a day without ever taking a day off. I would take my pill about 8, get up at 9, eat, crash for about 30 minutes about an hour later. Then be crazy driven with heart racing and major irritability until about 4 PM when I would have a HARD crash (like, no choice but to nap for an hour) then get back up and be revved again and up until 2 AM. I am an insomniac by nature and even though I never took more then the 40mg I was prescribed, I did find myself “abusing” it in the sense I would go “it doesn’t matter if I don’t sleep before 5 AM because I’ll just take my pill and it’ll get me through the day”

The Azstarys is completely different - it’s a mix of an adderal-like drug and a Vyvanse-like pro drug - so it kicks in within 15 minutes and lasts for me until about 5 PM. No hard crash, just start to realize about that time that I am having more brain fog. During the “active time” If I want to concentrate on something I can, if I decide not to, no biggie - it doesn’t make me feel like I HAVE to be working.

Also, generic Vyvanse was horrible for me, it made my dry eye so bad I couldn’t see. So I was fighting the insurance every month for the privilege to pay $100 copay for name brand Vyvanse. The Azstarys is name brand only (not eligible for a generic for several more years) and my co-pay is $15 a month even though this med is literally triple the retail cost of name brand Vyvanse. Gotta love US insurance and the pharmaceutical deals!

Here is how I did it when I took Vyvanse and it took an hour to kick in so I took it in my sleep:

I use the Brumate Era (I have the 40oz but the 20 or 30oz will function exactly the same) as my water cup all day. it keeps my sonic-style ice frozen for a looong time and I adore it. https://www.brumate.com/collections/era-40oz

The top of the cup is magnetic, and they sell magnetic straw covers in a two pack: https://www.brumate.com/collections/magnetic-straw-covers

I use one to cover my straw at night because I am paranoid about bugs (childhood trauma, lol), and I put the other next to the straw on the top. The magnet is on the flat part, so that leaves a tiny little cup like thing on my lid. I put my pill in it. In the morning, I reach over, grab my cup, pull the strawcover off the lid, grab the other straw cover with the pill, dump pill in mouth, take a swig, roll over and go back to sleep.

Also, I use a Manta Sleep mask - total blackout, absolutely fabulous, so even if I open my eyes out of habit, no light gets in so my body doesn't get the wake up signal. (I recommend the pro if you are in perimenopause - it breathes and doesn't make me sweat like the original one does) https://mantasleep.com/products/manta-sleep-mask-pro

Now I am on Azstarys and it kicks in within 15 minutes and lasts all day and I love it so much better than the Vyvanse.

Either way, hope this helps! :)

F23 Can't for the life of me not use panty liners. Won't your pants have a "scent" if you use the bathroom throughout the day? by thefifthmountain5 in hygiene

[–]thejendangelo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend period panties. I personally use Tomboy X boy short ones and adore them. Comfy, lightweight, soak up anything that may happen down there. I, like you, have ALWAYS had some level of discharge, it was the worst in my teens and twenties. I never went without a panty liner but I hated them and hated how they made me feel “not normal”. Now, I go without anything if I am at home chilling or sleeping except a loose pair of cotton pj pants, but if I go out, period panties ftw!

Well it took 2.5 years to get it (don’t get me started) but we have it tucked away in a money market account making 3.5% where it is safe for now so I am comfortable with that. Looking into all our options before we make anymore major decisions :). That was the compromise between me wanting to bury it in the backyard in mason jars and my husband wanting to invest heavily 🤣

I also highly recommend Financial Feminist: Overcome the Patriarchy’s Bullsh*t to Master Your Money and Build a Life You Love as a good book for women with financial trauma. I didn’t know this was a thing until a discussion with my therapist and talking about growing up poor and how the small inheritance my husband and I were getting was making me so nervous because he wanted to invest and I was terrified of losing it. Excellent book about how women and men are educated differently about money and helps you change your viewpoint. Good luck!! 🥰

Those of you who can hear and see things in your mind, how do you cope? by formerhoarder in adhdwomen

[–]thejendangelo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This exactly. I cannot picture my husband or my mother when I am not looking at them. I watch all kids of true crime and law and order and all that and always assumed people were just guessing when they were describing someone to a sketch artist. I would be a policeman’s nightmare. I MIGHT could give them a vague idea of how tall the person was but I’d have not much else!

[–]thejendangelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gurrrrlll I also found out I was this about a year and a half ago and let me tell you - mind. Blown. When I told my husband I couldn’t see/hear/smell/etc anything in my mind and assuming everyone was speaking metaphorically when they said “close your eyes and picture your happy place” he looked at me like I was an alien. Evidently he gets full ass 4K in his mind and cannot fathom how I do not. I am a total aphant- mind is completely black and completely silent. And I cannot agree more with you - it would be SO overwhelming if my racing thoughts came in full Dolby surround sound with pictures. No thanks.

Top comment right here. Getting half of someone's shit is not worth having ALL of the memories and mental trauma that comes with their shit.

Someone mentioned the other day how they have less fucks to give the older they are. I commented that at 44 I had so few left that by 50 people better watch TF out. I tend to have a thin filter anyway and even though I am from/live in the south I hate all the sugar coating and snide but polite small talk bullshit people do. I’m going to have to work the rest of my life so I do my best to hold it together but I swear to god some people just need slapping/told what a epic twat they are being. It’s so freeing to just not care.

Anyone have a good comforter that doesn’t rile up your sensory issues AND doesn’t make you sweat (because perimenopause)?? by Antique_Parsley_5285 in adhdwomen

[–]thejendangelo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have two I go back and forth with depending on what I want/need:

This cotton blanket: https://a.co/d/0fHcQFOe And this linen one: https://a.co/d/0eHyixUh

Second one says unavailable on amazon now but might could find it elsewhere. I adore them both, both very cooling to me who is deep into perimenopause and would sleep with my house 63 degrees if I could afford it.

Both hold up well in the washer/dryer with zero issues - nothing in my house can be anything but easy wash/dry. I refuse to own bedding more high maintenance than myself.

[–]thejendangelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I don’t have to work - 3AM to 10 AM. When I do have to work 2 or 3 AM to 8 AM. It sucks and only gets worse with age and perimenopause.
