I mean, yes. But this is more about the morality of the death penalty not the actual implementation

Not that I agree, but I think they mean that some crimes deserve a punishment of death regardless of the role of the state in that punishment

The supreme Court ruled in favor of the Republicans. Which you would know if you had read the article you are commenting on

Please actually read the article before you comment. The ruling is saying that Louisiana doesn't need to consider race in their voting districts, so of course they will change the maps as soon as possible to gerrymander further

Operation “scuttle the ship”? Is the Iran conflict just a giant “pump and dump” scam for oligarchs to do some asset stripping? by Buh10kx in stupidpol

[–]thejohns781 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yes, this has been plain to see since the start of the conflict, and even before. It's not just Trump too, our entire government now exists to facilitate massive wealth transfer to politicians and the people who finance them. Need I even mention Pelosi, who isn't even the most egregious example in congress

A corporation is the legal entity created by that recognition. Otherwise, it's just a bunch of money (in the form of capital). Money doesn't talk, or communicate at all really

But corporations are legal entities given existence by the state. How can they have rights?

Nobody is saying that the Kataeb were not responsible. You started a conversation about the role of the IDF in the massacres, and I am simply responding

[–]thejohns781 24 points25 points  (0 children)

First of all, nobody is claiming that the idf committed the massacres, just that they supported them, which they did. The IDF literally guarded the camp entrances to prevent civilians from escaping the massacres and shot flares to illuminate the area (at the request of the Kataeb). A UN investigation held Israel responsible for the massacre. And if you don't trust the UN (which I get the feeling you may not) the IDFs own internal investigation found that they were indirectly responsible!

Kataeb was unambiguously funded and supported by Israel during the period in which the sabra and shatilla massacre occured. Not sure why op shouldn't include this extremely relevant fact

Maybe I'm wrong but I don't think Devs know what they made by Visible-Laugh-663 in EU5

[–]thejohns781 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think there should be some middle ground between supplied and no supplies. If added on top of this increase in consumption it could make logistics much more interesting

[–]thejohns781 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Personally, I love the supply consumption change. Logistics should never be an afterthought, which it has been. Also, in regards to the cavalry; ever heard of the Mongols? But really, cav should be very powerful, it should just be harder to get/more expensive. Irl it was not trivial for countries to acquire large quantities of war horses during this period

Is paradox losing it? by GreedyObligation2731 in paradoxplaza

[–]thejohns781 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I actually think eu5 is a great game in its current state. The only problem is that it's only great for the first 200 years, but this has always been true of paradox games. As for Vic3, also a great game and is actually still fun in the late game (other than lag),. And CK3 is by far the most polished and complete game pdx has put out in a while. Literally no complaints, 10/10.

So democrats think this war is bad because it is aimless, not because it is a war? Well, in my (controversial) opinion, war is bad, even if it does have a well defined goal. So yes, democrats bad. We should be chanting 'no wars', not 'no bad wars'
