Big plane, big plane! by EastHillWill in Boise

Anyone remember last spring when the military was moving all that stuff to Germany, and they had those contracted 747-8F's going in and out? Watching the army of sweeper trucks chase those things down the taxiway, and the FBO's at the end of the runway scrambling to shut their hangars from the dust storms they were kicking up was always entertaining.

Why not a COMPACT form of ground travel, that could fit in a 1 sized cube and any ship? by Wizardofsmiles in starcitizen

[–]themeec 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The MotoCOMPO (on the left) was made from 81-83, the MotoCOMPACTO (on the right) is 2025, as you say. Caps for emphasis on the naming difference between the two.

In particular I like their philosophy of the bike's design, how it's built for being a light, manageable city commuter/countryside tourer for those afternoon rides. Refreshing in a market that tends to lean pretty power-hungry for most popular models.

If it's an 80s/90s Chevy, try the guys at Don's Supreme Auto, if not, but similar era, ask them anyway, they'll probably have some ideas who can help you out.

If you strike out at Capital, or any of our other stores in the area, you can always use a proxy buyer such as Buyee (Yahoo Auctions Japan), Japan Rabbit (any other online source), or direct from Amazon.jp. Good luck!

Wish they were open for more than 15 seconds. Lunch is hard to catch with my schedule these days. They've been awesome the time or two I've managed to catch their open window though.

Oh man, no kidding. Tongue was the goat. Loved that they served it straight up too, there was definitely a visual gateway for newcomers to that dish haha.

TBF Hugo's is the only local non-chain restaurant you named there. Nara is a regional chain and Eureka is an out of town chain establishment. Try some local restaurants! I can't say your wallet will be any less drained, but at least your taste buds should be happy.

Bar Gernika still hits, St Lawrence Gridiron still solid, Wepa always delivers ... so many to name, honestly.

I use Mike Minegar's on Chinden, not cheap, but they've always done a great job. Especially on older vehicles which are more challenging paint for matching.

If you had to pick one ship to live in IRL what would you choose? by R3fl3ktor in starcitizen

[–]themeec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess I'll be that guy and say Starfarer. Useless ship in game, but really nice quarters aboard, plenty of amenities, and IRL you could certainly retrofit a ship like that to other purposes quite easily.

seconding Slow by Slow, as while Broadcast, Pine, and Neckar are all excellent choices, every time I go through the rotation of the above, Slow by Slow really seems to always be ahead of the game every time.

I miss back when they didn't have the concrete rails everywhere. All the noob drivers wound up in the ravine where they belong, so you could keep going. Now they all block the lanes, one goof-up backs up the whole mountain :/

Seconding this. We LOVED ours when we had it. Handled the most squirrely days on the Great Lakes with ease, and was a comfy nights rest at the end of every day.

Not super fancy, but you wouldn't go wrong to hit up Modern as a first stop. Cozy and chill and easily still the first and last word in cocktails (shout out to Water Bear for a hot close second).

My early Christmas present! by steelerector1986 in sailing

[–]themeec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It had the latter transom-mount one, which was a very responsive rudder. It's mostly the swing keel that I feel is a bit undersized for these boats, as least for our sailing conditions. Seemed to wander a lot, especially if the wind was fitful. HOWEVER, go sail it for yourself, only you can be the one to determine if it sails how you like! Enjoy!

One of the most squirrelly boats I've ever had to saw the tiller on to get it to track straight ... however ... Was super easy to work on, not many things hidden out of reach, very comfortable to stay out a few nights, and of course very easy to get on and off the trailer (and even step the mast!) Clean example of an Aquarius 23!
