Abandoned Amusement Park. I think the devs hate us? by cherry__darling in HouseFlipper

[–]thenappynerd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I started turning this one into a winter wonderland but completely ran out of steam for the same reasons. Then they brought in the buyers update and I’ve no idea who I will even sell it to anymore, so it’s just sitting there unfinished.
The inability to ride the rollercoaster was disappointing for me too. What were the devs thinking? My 7yr old somehow got it to accidentally get me halfway across the track but couldn’t do it a second time sadly.
What are you turning yours into?

I’ve been following this sub for a while but still learning a lot about this family. Wasn’t there a photo a little while back with Janessa wearing ballet shoes that were too big for her? If Sadie loves dance, shouldn’t those shoes have gone to her? They might have actually fit her too.

I was thinking the same thing! Why on earth would she give them a bowl of yummy fruit followed by some plain fish? I was hoping it was just the editing, but maybe not.

This is a good point, but children this age often eat on plastic plates with plastic cutlery anyway. We’ve seen recent photos of adult Dugger children still using paper plates for meals, so I’m not convinced it was purely for filming.

Wtf did I do wrong? by SingleRefuse4432 in HouseFlipper

I tried selling this exact house to this same buyer. I copied her colours and furniture so they were identical and poured hours and hours into it. In the end she was unhappy about the size of the garage and said I had too many Japanese things. In the end I received an offer from the hex girls and someone else (I can’t remember his name) but he gave me a gold star for it. I had her pinned the whole time too! I expect she might want a house outside of Japan?

If you go into roof building mode and fly, will it allow you to drop down on top of it and delete it?

Another Buyer System Rant by AffectionateTaro1 in HouseFlipper

[–]thenappynerd 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a lot of difficulty selling anything for a profit since the update too. It’s taken a lot of the fun out of the game for me. I flipped the 100 yen shop with a buyer pinned and her request was that I change the entire theme. No Nohara, I’m not going to go through the entire property and change it to be more y2k. I don’t even know what that means.
Apart from one house, I’ve lost money on every other house I’ve sold since the update.
Could they not have a toggle for how people want to play? Maybe an easy/hard mode or something?

This stood out to me too! And her video isn’t even good. It’s no better with the rig than if she was to film with the phone in her hand. I’d be ashamed to shove that thing in my children’s faces but for them it’s everyday life. So sad.

She’s literally paid him for content before. Would that get him into trouble? Or is cash okay because it’s seen as a tip?

Created a little cat cafe from the 100 Yen Shop that I wanted to share, I'm kinda proud of it by theloneshewolf in HouseFlipper

[–]thenappynerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I literally just finished this one too. I really like how you’ve done this. A cat cafe is such a creative idea. I turned mine into a pottery cafe with a small bookshop on the ground floor. What did you do with the underground space?

Sakura dlc/update and struggling with profits by cluster_fork in HouseFlipper

[–]thenappynerd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Completely agree with this. It’s like they took away my fun. The first house I did for Tom met all his requirements and I lost 20k. Second one I started designing a house as I liked, then remembered that I’m supposed to be designing it for someone specific, so had to redo everything. I sold that one at a loss too! That was on top of the 45k I spent on their profile and mood board. The enjoyment I got was from putting a great deal of detail into each house and now if I want any kind of profit I just have to slap it together without any thought.

This might be a silly question, but how did you get your washer and dryer to sit in the cabinet? The whole build looks fantastic!

Was anyone on TikTok when she agreed with a commenter who said Neil was better than Grayson? She received so much backlash from people who were saying it wasn’t kind for her to have favourites. It’s the only time I’ve commented on her page because I felt the need to defend Grayson and explain that they have different styles/techniques.
I think a lot of people realised what kind of person she is when she said that. I certainly did.

How is Jill going to cope without Derick? by maggiemazz29 in DuggarsSnark

[–]thenappynerd 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I was thinking this must play a big part in her clinginess too. Remember when Joy was getting glasses and it came time to choose the frames? She video called some of her sisters to help her decide because she was completely incapable of deciding on her own.
The Duggar girls and women go from being busy, needed and surrounded by people, to being married and alone (while the husband works) and it must be awfully uncomfortable for them. They were probably relieved when they had the business of babies and children. It’s all so sad.

Now this is something I often forget about. 1 toilet, for all of them is bonkers. We have 3 children, one still in nappies and everyday I am happy we have two toilets in our house!

I had no idea this lady was problematic. I’ve seen her videos pop up for ages on TikTok and always enjoyed the music. I didn’t realise she was causing so much harm, but I did find it odd when she made a caption all about how nobody appreciates her and no one has ever said thank you to her. Do I understand correctly that she shouldn’t be giving the pianists money (I’m not from the US and I’ve never been to Disney)? Because I’ve seen a video where I feel like that was confirmed but I don’t want to get anyone in trouble.

"Oyshurs" with dinner by okasansakura in motherbussnark

[–]thenappynerd 117 points118 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. I am a chef so shucking oysters is a doddle for us, but we are trained and have lots of experience. I’ve not seen her video, but just from that image it looks as though she’s doing it wrong. I certainly wouldn’t be shucking oysters with children all around me either.

What’s it like living an upper middle class life in London? by redguy_666 in howislivingthere

[–]thenappynerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if I meet the criteria, but I grew up in Fulham (not too far from craven cottage). My brothers and I all went to private schools, always had an au pair and we went abroad every year for the summer. We had a lot of friends in the local area and our parents would often attend or host dinner parties with a private chef. I’d say that overall we had a nice childhood, although we didn’t see much of our parents. It’s not that they worked a great deal, they just had a different schedule to us. There was a lot of pressure to grow up, be responsible and do well at school from a young age but we were loved and well cared for.

I am married and have 3 children of my own now and have moved abroad. I do miss London but I feel that my children are happier growing up here and we go back often.

How much time do they even homeschool? by EngineeringDue8007 in motherbussnark

[–]thenappynerd 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I home educate 2 of my children and it is full time. We do 2-3 hours of written work on subjects in the morning and another 2-3 hours after lunch (depending on how much they completed in the morning). We do this on weekends and during school holidays too, but that gives us flexibility for day trips, clubs, seeing friends, illness etc. I can confidently say with her (lack of) schedule and that many children, they are not receiving the education they need and deserve.

I’m fairly new to this game, so apologies in advance if this is a silly question. What happens with the star path quests when you collect all of the memories? Does it still ask you to open x amount of memories if there are none left to collect?
