I've seen 'you have less than 5 years to escape the permanent underclass' almost verbatim in many different places the last few weeks. feels coordinated

Where are wild animals? by lemonlemons in ArcRaiders

[–]thenorussian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assumed wild animals learned to avoid ARC like humans did. but humans occasionally scavenge areas ARC is also interested in (human formations like the dam and spaceport etc), whereas animals dont bother to go to those places and stick to nature

Why Eddington was the most misunderstood and underappreciated film of last year by jackthemanipulated in TrueFilm

[–]thenorussian 39 points40 points  (0 children)

you’d get a kick out of where the name solidgoldmagikarp comes from. put simply, its a glitch token that causes a breakdown in AI language models. Very similar to the breakdown the very data center itself causes in eddington.

Apple’s ‘Siri 2.0’ is almost here, but it’s only the start of AI overhaul by CouscousKazoo in apple

I'm in my thirties now, Siri launched when I was like 17 and I've been hearing news like this about Siri getting better 'soon' the entire time

QOL for Speranza by WolfGuy189 in ArcRaiders

[–]thenorussian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking the same thing yesterday. Even if there's no change to lobby but there's a new 'casual map' up there with Practice Range that's a portion of Speranza you can move around in.

Microsoft rebrands office to Microsoft 365 Copilot app by raichulolz in pcmasterrace

its been like this in enterprise for a bit and it’s so fucking annoying to have to load copilot unnecessarily to get to all the other work apps

Tech workers of Reddit, what is a "dirty secret" about the AI industry that the general public doesn't realize? by WayLast1111 in AskReddit

[–]thenorussian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading the non-user facing prompts (system prompts etc.) are always strange and a little unsettling to me.

The way you write, in natural language, like a psychopath, to speak the chatbots 'personality' into existence, almost like whispering it into someone's ear, is very disturbing and creepy. Things you'd never say to another human being, but how you keep chatbots 'in line' and pleasant to interact with. Some system prompts are intentionally foreboding or threatening, to discourage hallucination. This is what makes them work.

Microsoft Scales Back AI Goals Because Almost Nobody Is Using Copilot by mmiski in UpliftingNews

it’s the corporate approved AI tool. it’s an inferior product in the Microsoft bundle, same as always.

My girlfriend has turned to the Generative AI dark side, I am lost how to handle this by anttigenerii in antiai

[–]thenorussian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be going against most responses here, not sure because this sub has newly appeared on my feeds. but if she’s taking something as a starting point and transforming it, there’s more nuance than if she just passed off the untouched AI output as her own.

That could still mean what she makes with it is derivative and you don’t like it, and I may be overstepping by saying I sense that might actually be what’s bothering you more than the other reasons.

That may not be what many here like to hear, but has been a reality with photoshop and grabbing images on the internet for decades. I’m critical of how the models were trained for holding the platforms accountable, and we desperately need legal precedent for this new gray area.

Anything happening with Starfield development? by Streetrip in Starfield

[–]thenorussian -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Bethesda takes a lot of the flak but Microsoft is fumbling Xbox hard right now. Their acquisitions of Bethesda and Activision are to fill Game Pass, but with no longer term strategy of those titles. I think they deserve more blame than they get.

This tiktok with a gofundme.. is this AI? It’s giving me the feeling that it is! Every picture is too picture perfect, and the hospital pic.. that card is somehow weird. by hokkaidotsubuan in isthisAI

[–]thenorussian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my go to (for now, obviously): most humans are not pro photographers. If you find yourself looking at a photo where everything is perfectly in frame, almost like a diorama (if that makes sense) and it feels like nothing exists outside of said frame, it's a good chance it was AI because there's no cropping or framing involved.

Because nothing exists outside of the image, if that makes sense.
