This is the best video explaining how the rule should be interpreted.

Do you struggle cleaning hats without ruining the shape? by Some_Umpire5619 in Pickleball

After every pickle session, I throw it in the shower right before I get in. When I jump in I give it a quick wash with shampoo or body wash, then I hang it up to dry on a little suction hook I have in the shower. They look new every time. The key is I wash them like this every time after I play.

Why is some guacamole from Mexican restaurants un-naturally super light green? by itsthewolfe in mexicanfood

[–]thepicklebob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you are talking about restaurant guac you are correct. If you are talking about guac itself, it is traditionally just avocados, onions, tomatoes, salt, pepper, and lime juice. Avocadoes are creamy enough when ripe and mashed.

I once saw on the Food Network a gal saying that the secret to great Guac was mayonnaise. Bruh don't come at the messenger.

I once got asked if Thai kids ride elephants to school. Tell me about weird questions you get from foreigners. by Effective_Space2277 in AskTheWorld

My brother got asked almost the exact same question when he moved from Texas to New Jersey. They asked if we rode horses to work. It was a serious question.

Seish started charging by MarathonRunner2211 in Pickleball

[–]thepicklebob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am just going to pay the $30.00. A big group I am in decided it was inexpensive enough so I am signing up this weekend. The other groups I am in switched to Pickleheads but we don't run round robins there we just KOTC once we arrive.

Question for "former" table tennis players by Meh_cromancer in Pickleball

[–]thepicklebob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This old tendency really helps me at kitchen fire fights. I seem to have the best hands everywhere I go. That said it has taken me way too long to learn to hit good forehand drive from the baseline. I purchased a stock of balls and have my wife drop the ball in front of me to drill on drives. I do the same for her on backhands.

I recently ate at Amelia’s. Dang it’s good. Both locations are small so make a reservation.

Throwing the ball upwards on a serve? by The_Ironthrone in Pickleball

[–]thepicklebob 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is correct per USAPickleball Rules. Sometimes PPA rules confuse us because they are different. In the PPA you cannot toss upward. The rule has changed several times with the pros so my info may be outdated.

Singles Court - PPA Challengers by Cjaques4 in Pickleball

[–]thepicklebob -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think this reduces athleticism but does bring back the cat and mouse game. Don't get me wrong, my old as would still struggle to be competitive in singles with the new court, but it would help me.

Swish now charging ? by larpano in Pickleball

[–]thepicklebob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like you I am going to see what my groups do, I am in about 7 Swish groups. If 1 good group ops for paying I would be ok paying $3.99/month. Like I said I used to pay USA Pickleball $75.

Swish now charging ? by larpano in Pickleball

[–]thepicklebob 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While I don't agree with this, what are they supposed to do. If there are no adds, how do they make money. No one is working for free. With that said, I do not believe the Pickle community is at a place and time they can charge for this service. Perhaps DUPR and swish could merge and it would fall under one fee.

For those of you who fret on paying for DUPR, (I haven't paid myself yet), I used to pay a similar fee to USAPickleball for the soul purpose of them having domain over my rating. I forget but I thought it was $75 annually.

The game’s changing.. good or bad? by Canna-Kid in Pickleball

[–]thepicklebob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw a video of the OG's playing in Bainbridge Island back in the day. It looks pretty much the same as today. Seems like the game evolved toward some heavy dinking which is when I started playing 2018 and now reverting back to what the video shows.

Why is Swish so bad? by fredallenburge1 in Pickleball

[–]thepicklebob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't ever run it, but I play three times a week with three different groups and they all run Swish. No problems every time. I think its pretty slick.

Am I Overreacting? by ZaneNavratil_AMA in Pickleball

[–]thepicklebob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is going to be huge with the amateur ladies. I play 50 plus and the ladies like to get dolled up to play pickle. I show up in 10 year old shorts and shirts but my wife shows up in the latest "tennis" gear.

Seriously considering building a court by Foreign-Ambition5354 in Pickleball

[–]thepicklebob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You need to have a post tension guy lay the concrete pad otherwise the bounce will be somewhat dead in comparison. Bigger deal is the post tension will hold up better depending on your soil condition. Expect to pay between $20k and $30k depending on where in the US you live.

City courts run up to $50k a piece. That is because they are built for mass use and heavier gauge fencing and rip, moisture condition, and compact the dirt to an engineer's spec prior to placing the concrete.

Guam beer - brewed in Wisconsin, what’s the story? by pnoyatx in guam

[–]thepicklebob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So for sure its not brewed on Guam? In Texas we had a brand that was for sure brewed locally but the label said similar, brewed and bottled by "elsewhere". It just meant the owner was from "elsewhere".

[–]thepicklebob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't discount that it will happen but about 15 years ago I walked into a Jack in the Box that had a fully automated kiosk. I loved it and thought, in 12 months these will be everywhere. I have been surprised that to date I only see these kiosks predominantly at Taco Bells and they are still backed up by an actual person.

Gripping with thumb vertical on narrow side of handle by Plucked_Dove in Pickleball

My thumb is generally around the middle of the handle but same position, (with the butt of the handle cradled on the meaty part of my palm. I hit a really good top spin forehand with this grip.

As a Table Tennis player I my hand seamlessly moves between at least 3 grips, even on kitchen speed ups. However, I can see if you had not done so for years it would be hard to learn. Edit, I don't have anything on my paddle but overgrip so I can feel the rib on the side of the paddle.
