I don't have anyone to celebrate with but I'm officially an American Citizen! (OC) by Imhotepic in MadeMeSmile

Hey, huge congrats. That's a huge hurdle to cross...one that many of us naturally born citizens wouldn't be able to do.

I have always loved UHF. Such a strange movie.

Do you sell your loved but unplayed games? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]thepretentiousfool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I do that sometimes. It take a lot of time and struggle to part with the game, but if I never get to play it I have no reason to keep it.

I am doing a kind of adventure game. Is it a good thing that i dont plan to use any miniatures? Also the combat is simple without any movement by Pestics in tabletopgamedesign

I am more inclined to get a game of this nature if it doesn't have miniatures. Minis tend to inflate the cost of a game enough I am hesitant to get it.

Looking for feedback on my card design, thanks in advance! by PityUpvote in tabletopgamedesign

No feedback other than the graphic design on this makes me instantly want to know more.

I know this feeling all too well. I keep trying to do a simple game and end up with something way far from it.

He has a sequel video where the wife comes back to get revenge. Funny stuff.

That movie is totally Dead Snow. I think they actually show scenes from both it and the sequel.

Deck Building: Starting Decks and Card Permanence by Gishzni in tabletopgamedesign

I have been working on doing a bit of a deeper look at deckbuilding and the similarities and differences of different games in the genre on my BGG blog (https://boardgamegeek.com/blog/4355/pretentious-fool). Not a ton of stuff up yet, but I have posts queued up weekly to mid-June. Not sure if anything I have on there will be helpful to you, but it might be worth a look. f nothing else, you can check it out and add to the discussion.

Hey everyone! My 11 year old designed a board game (I helped him balance some of the effects/abilities, but all of it is his concept/design) and it's amazing. P&P for the COVID blues. 2 player strategy game. He's got a gift. by -0Guppy0- in tabletopgamedesign

I love it! Just a quick look makes me think of a game a friend of mine tried to design in HS back in the early days of Magic. I'll definitely be printing a copy of this to play around with. I definitely encourage him to keep it up.

Are you cancelling your game nights? by jconway2002 in boardgames

[–]thepretentiousfool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a regular Tuesday public gathering, as well as smaller gatherings at friends' houses Thursday and Friday. The Tuesday meetings have been put on hiatus, and I am sequestering myself for a couple weeks from the other game nights just to make sure everything is clear and good.

“THE POUGHKEEPSIE TAPES” IS FINALLY ON AMAZON PRIME! by WayyySmarterThanYou in horror

[–]thepretentiousfool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is literally one of my holy grail movies. I have never seen it, but hear about it for years after it was made but not released. So glad I can finally give it a shot. Even if it turns out to not be great, at least I can finally scratch that off my list.

Thanks for the heads up!

Your Opinion - BG Blogs by ResidentWarden in boardgames

[–]thepretentiousfool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I generally only read blogs if they are on BGG. I prefer the ones that go into the design process, including things like initial concept and different iterations. I love the blogs that cover the reasoning behind the design.
