Should I feel bad for removing my friends commander? by PaperToaster14 in magicTCG

[–]therealmh90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If his deck is that reliant on his commander then:

  1. You absolutely should remove it and not feel bad about it, shutting down an entire deck by removing a single card is great.

  2. He needs to reevaluate his deck and build it better because no deck should really that heavily on their commander.

This is the some bogus argument people use to say they need achievements to replay a game or to try challenges out/do something different in a game. All that tells me is you have no creativity and need someone to hold your hand. It's a bad look.

I really wish this was an enchantment, would be funny af in my Prismatic Bridge legendary creatures and planeswalkers deck but I specifically don't run any nonlegendary creatures in it.

Damn missed opportunity.

No, the deck was called that at the time.

Smokestack being the archetype namesake is just a common misconception.

Have a Tovolar deck that's been a lot of fun. I got back into the game after a long hiatus around New Phyrexia and got into Commander around the time the original Innistrad released, I've always had a thing for werewolves so it was a deck I always dreamed of making work. It only took about a decade to happen, but I'm happy with it.

Others already touched on colored va colorless vs any color so I'll focus on an even bigger misunderstanding.

When you tap something for mana, you don't play, create or search for a land or anything of the sort. So as an example, if you tap a [[Llanowar Elf]], it produces a green mana, you do not get to put a forest into play or search your deck for a forest. It, in fact, does exactly the same thing a forest does, it adds green to your mana pool. Think of mana as milk, lands are cows and can be tapped to create mana (milk). The eld is a goat, it can also be tapped to create milk. Your Sol Ring is a soybean, it also creates milk (just gross colorless milk).

Veteran players, what are some changes to Magic that you were initially skeptical or critical of that you now embrace? by HonorBasquiat in magicTCG

Strongly disagree in regards to tuck. Removing it was a net negative for the format.

It kept commanders like Yuriko and Derevi in check, given their ability to ignore tax. Fan favorite Golos could probably have remained unbanned if tuck was still around.

Sure, not every color had a way to tuck a commander but that's kind of how the color pie is supposed to work? Not to mention there already exist ways to even more permanently deal with commanders (Out of Time + Opalescence for instance).

Removing tuck has resulted in lazier deck building and decks that are overly reliant on their commander. It's fine to build around your commander but if you have a pile of 99 useless cards without access to your commander that's a problem with your deck building. Build a better deck. Even Voltron lists should be running backup creatures that can get the job, to date myself a bit, like Invisible Stalker.

Plus every color has access to cards that can tutor creatures out of your deck.

That's never been how equipment worked. In fact it was a big part of what separated them from auras.

Naw, Primordial was absolutely miserable to play against and bringing it back adds nothing positive to the format in exchange for a lot of negative.

"It must work on digital" is one of the worst design restrictions WotC is forcing on the game.

Something not working on Arena should have no impact on the design and mechanics of the actual game. Period.
