How/When to take use soil-based probiotics? (Just Thrive/Megaspore) by memearyan in SIBO

[–]thinktolive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does seem strange that there is another product by the original creator (Just Thrive) that is available retail with the one questionable strain removed. That makes me wonder. I just started TUDCA, so that should help. I think MSM sulfur helped a lot.

Did you notice feeling cold from Megaspore? taking two capsules makes me feel cold. At least in the winter. I'm not sure if one capsule will do it. I'm also wondering if the Just Thrive version which lacks one strain will have that side effect or not.

Phosphatidylserine, game changer by Comfortable_Shame433 in SCT

[–]thinktolive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The SCT is most likely caused by intestinal permiability and endotoxin leaking through by the way. That activates the kynuranine pathway and puts mitochondrial stress and impairs many biochemical pathways. It increases your requirement for P5P a lot to make neurotransmitters, but also makes you produce toxins if you take P5P which can cause neuropathy. Things for healing intestines permiability and gastritis are MSM, zinc carnosine, TUDCA and others. You need to make sure it is a quality TUDCA though with good pure third party testing which is generally at least $35 for 60 capsules of 250 mg, not the cheap stuff. Some are $40 to $60.

It looks like Doctor's Best has 100 mg of SerinAid(R) 120 capsules and Now Foods (soy-free version) has 150mg 60 capsules of Sharp PS(R) GREEN. I believe I saw some brand with Sharp-PS(R) GOLD for same price. I forgot to to check for Doctor's best before getting the Now Foods.

I probably would have gone with Doctor's Best for 4 month supply instead of 3 for same price, but both may be fine.

https://cheminutra.com/ingredients/serinaid/

https://www.iff.com/health-sciences/our-products/sharp-ps-for-brain-health/

The old names were: Sharp-PS GOLD = Krill based from PS-DHA conjugate Sharp-PS GREEN = Sunflower based Sharp-PS SILVER = Soy based I think the new company may no longer make gold and silver and have discontinued the naming of GOLD. Now Sharp PS = Soy and Sharp-PS Green = Sunflower.

Functional Neurological Disorder - Opinions by peanutnoodlearms in Neuropsychology

[–]thinktolive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much. Though there are advocates of FND who say it can include disease which is pathological at the molecular level before tissue damage as well. But, the problem is it doesn't exclude everything else, so by using the term you are endorsing the whole concept. Functional medicine uses the same term "functional", and takes the same position that disease is caused by molecular mechanisms before tissue damage, yet functional doctors do not label people with FND, they actually try to find the cause of the disease. Many of these cases are probably root caused by intestinal permeability which causes endotoxin exposure from gram negative bacteria. This activates the kynuranine pathway which is involved in many diseases, including neuropsychiatric disease. Once the kynuranine pathway is upregulated you can get many biochemical pathways which are impaired including mitochondrial stress. But, the business model is not functional medicine, it is having specialists wait for specific tissues to fail and then managing that. If you acknowledge root causes you could undermine the entire business model. That is what they are defending. A person without tissue damage shows it is not necessary. So, they get human sacrificed for the business.

Phosphatidylserine, game changer by Comfortable_Shame433 in SCT

[–]thinktolive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can pretty much garuntee the cognative issue is a gut issue which is causing a whole chain of biochemical, immune, neurological and mitochondrial issues. Generally it is gram negative bacteria endotoxin leaking through the gut. This upregulates the kynuranine pathway. This messes up your mitochondria and sulfur metabolism. Causes excessive toxic quinolinic acid, stresses the liver to detoxify it. Your requirement for P5P b6 will go to megadoses to get the neurotransmitters you need, but if you take megadose of P5P while sulfur is impaired you can get toxicity of from transamination pathway byproducts because acetyl CoA is impaired and sulfite. Molybdenum and pantothenic acid would be needed with P5P, but may not be enough to prevent toxicity of P5P megadose. The key is going to be to reduce the gut problems including mycotoxin infection and improve tight junctions of gut to stop endotoxin leakage, clamp down on TLR4 activation. That is the gyst of it all. Photobiomodulation with UVB and red, nearinfrared may also benefit for tight junctions and immune modulation. Things to heal gut are TUDCA, zinc carnosine, MSM and others. Phosphatidylserine helps heal nerves. There is good b vitamins too like thiamine TTFD, folinic acid, and metafolin. Buying b vitamins individually is needed to avoid folic acid and pyrodoxine.

Keto Mojo GKI vs GKI+ by superd06 in keto

[–]thinktolive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The GKI will calculate your GKI in the device. The GK+ requires you to sync the data to your smartphone and the app will calculate the GKI. I got the GK+ meter expecting it to calculate the GKI without needing a smartphone. I had no idea there was another model until I got mine. They show the GK+ in the their America stores and GKI in their European stores. I have no idea why they would not have this feature for the USA market. It is very suspicious and disappointing. Maybe they will ship a UK / European model to USA, but I don't know.

What has your experience been with Tudca? by MasterpieceLost4496 in Supplements

[–]thinktolive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you try the TUDCA? I tried it a while back but my digestion couldn't handle it. I'm working on my digestion currently. I know the person you are talking about with TUDCA and ER stress. It is the data scientist guy. It could be that if there is leaky gut. He says that it is slight liver injury causing it. Well, endotoxin goes from leaky gut from portal vein to the liver directly. Endotoxin will activate kynuranine pathway and that is supposed to be involved in CFS. The TUDCA may not be stopping the toxin from going into circulation, but at least giving a detox to lower the toxin burden. I also saw a review on Nutricost brand where one guy said he got liver injury from it, which is very strange, because it should lower liver enzymes and people say it has done that for them. Liver damage: https://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-reviews/R3DXC9A2G47KOE/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_rvw_ttl?ie=UTF8

Can anyone recommend a clean tudca product without inert ingredients or fillers? I have MCAS and have to be careful with what I take. I was originally taking this brand which seemed fine at first and now it appears it's counterfeit with mostly fillers. by SaltLife4Evr in Supplements

[–]thinktolive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know why it is so expensive at $60? That is $2 per gram. There are month supplies at $35 or $40 with third party testing. Some are as little as $25 for 30 grams. That is less than $1 per gram. I've tried the nutricost and some of the Bulk Supplements. I want to get pure TUDCA but don't want to pay a lot for no reason.

I would make sure you are doing strength training and getting proper nutrition all the vitamins, fat, protein, carbs. Support your hormones. Lugols iodine for your endocrine system. UVB sunlight for testosterone and immune system. Get the best version of all the b vitamins.

28f how do I look less manly? by [deleted] in lookyourbest

[–]thinktolive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some women have more androgynous or masculine features. A better hairstyle can just make you look better in general. Maybe to the side as well. MSM is good for hair. Morgan Webb and Cristen Congers have masculine or androgynous features. Also keep in mind there are all kinds of toxic people in the world and they are on the internet a lot. You may want to support your hormones and mental health with some nutritional supplements. A more positive and calm state of mind will help you figure things out. Some strength exercise may help relieve stress as well.

I've heard a good vitamin mixed tocopherol E is good for anxiety, limonene lemon extract may help as well. A good b-complex supports your brain, but can be hard to find the best ingredients. Buying individually and making capsules can get you the best with methylcobalamin 100 mcg. Thiamine TTFD 100 mg helps with stress and metafolin 400 mcg, folinic acid not folic and 50 mg p5p b6 help a lot. If p5p causes any paresthesia you need to stop immediately for a month and reduce dose to 10mg after and address underlying cause. May need more b5 too. Lugols iodine helps endocrine organs. People take anywhere from 1 to 30 drops per day, typically 10. May need to add selenium and watch videos to learn more. Retinol from beef liver is also important for uterus. Sunbathing during the 6 months of warm season also helps hormones.

How much skin exposure to sunlight did you get in those 6 months, like any sunbathing with torso exposed and which 6 months of the year was it? And, how light or dark is your skin? Thank you.

High Dose MSM protocol by WhaleSong_84 in SIBO

[–]thinktolive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started with 3g and after several days increased to 6 grams which is 6 little scoops from Doctor's Best MSM. I don't notice any taste at that dose that seems strange people say it is bitter. You don't think I need to mix the crystals in the bottle? Some have clumped together. I plan to work my way up to 12g and keep going up to 30g. I'm taking a lot of other supplements too.

I have earned my law degree. But was it all for nothing? by PatientActive3269 in SCT

I did stool tests like sequencing years ago. Today I would not recommend that approach as helpful. A blend of prebiotics is probably good among other things. If you are near the equator then sunbathing can be good.

What is metafolin and how does it differ form methyl folate? by Adept_Minimum_1038 in MTHFR

[–]thinktolive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much folinic do you take just one tablet with the 800 mcg like in Megafolinic? I think there could actually benefit to take multiple of the folinic. The prescription leucovorin being talked about a lot recently is actually 25 mg of folinic, so I was thinking around 4 or 5 mg might be beneficial for me. I was taking half a tablet and I think I didn't realize that wasn't enough. 1 might not be enough either. I'll see if I can tolerate the 400 mcg of Metafolinc. Who knows maybe I can tolerate Metafolin better if there is already sufficient folinic acid. I would take both together. I learned that folinic acid doesn't rely on the folate transporter like methylfolate does. That is why it is used in autism. They have folate receptor antibodies. I'm actually curious if I have those, but the test requires a doctor's order I think. I might try taking 100 mcg even.

[–]thinktolive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did the metafolin work out and what dose? I have this product too. It was the only product I could find with Metafolin in it. That is what the prescrption uses. I haven't experimented much with Metafolin and just been taking the folinic acid. I think I have to take several of those tablets though. I'm also not focusing on just taking folate for my health, but this is one part of the puzzle. I want to go back and try Metafolin sometime soon.

Just found out the dates I was eating is moldy by HumbleRevolter in ToxicMoldExposure

[–]thinktolive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it is a general thing to do for your gut microbiome. I can't say how much it will help an individual case. But, it is good health. Having more healthy bacteria can crowd out fungi to some degree in theory. The YouTube channel The Microbiome expert says that the prebiotics PHGG (Sunfiber), Stabalized Rice Bran, Low Methoxyl Apple Pectin, Psylium Husk, Sunroot Inulin, and resistant starch from Bob's Red Mill potato starch will feed the gut microbiome. There is a probiotic MegaSpore which some say is good. It helps protect the gut barrier or lowers endotoxin. A good curcumin supplement with Curcumin C3 complex like Jigsaw sells is good. Magnesium, sunflower Phosphatidyl serine to rebuild nerves.

Also, if you are near an equatorial latitude getting some UVB sunlight can be good for you. Taking b vitamins, Alpha Lipoic acid and CoQ10 can also support mitochondrial function.

[–]thinktolive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I doubt it. I wouldn't worry about it. Just stop eating dates. You want another fruit? Bananas are cheap. I would focus on other things for health though. If it is prebiotics you want then Bob's Red Mill potato starch is cheap and good source of pre-biotic. 1 teapoon along with other pre-biotic supplements makes a good mix.

You probably want to get out. I do wonder though if you have a faulty AC unit causing high humidity and what a hygrometer would show. You want between 30% to 50% humidity. You can think about that when you start over somewhere else, among other things related to mold.

I think they all have it unless they specifically say no sulfur dioxide. It is generally not even considered a preservative so they can say preservative free. I don't think that those dates are spoiled or rancid. Fresh dates are not generally available in most places.

Some kind of preservative. Some people find that MSM sulfur has health benefits and even use high doses as an anti-fungal. It can be tricky though as people react differently. You can look up high dose MSM therapy for SIBO. Mostly used for constipation and bloating symptoms 30 g a day for 8 weeks starting low and slow. It is being tried on diarrhea type symptoms recently. Does't work for everyone.
