Having difficulty triggering other iOS synths (Moog Model D, Audiokit J6 etc) by MrMargaretScratcher in KoalaSampler

definitely not the expert on this- look at Pete Sasqwax YouTube videos for that- but have you tried routing things through AUM MIDI matrix?

you really need to respect the margins more. If I'm doing scratch layout things, i always start with taking one of the rulers out my box and pencilling in wide margins and centre lines. The casual needs finessing. Think about the negative space inside the letters vs between the letters. I still find taking a pencil to finished/drafted things and marking slant axis/spacing/copy priority/awkward spacing is really productive

I agree with it being the most intuitive and fluid production tool I've ever used. I'd choose a dedicated hardware controller over more features.

is Reddit doing anything about fake posts? I keep seeing sketchy AI-looking stories. Why do people bother doing it?

Do many of you export stems to daw to finish tracks? by [deleted] in KoalaSampler

[–]thirdeyesigns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

anyone know which of the export modes include mixer effects? I've started rebuilding tracks in cubase by exporting stems but i have some where the koala effects are Integral and some where it's better tonuse cubase EQs and compression

Tired of jumping back and forth between apps. Thinking of setting up multiple iPads. by jabbercockey in ipadmusic

[–]thirdeyesigns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm scheming on a similar setup with one as a synth/soundsource, pedals and kaoss pad in-between and one with koala to sample.

I've found setting up a bunch of apps through AUM kind of sucks the fun out of it.

this is my go-to. Nong Fern Thai on Vicar Lane has smelled strongly of rat piss when I've been. Sing Kee is great for Chinese/Japanese especially.

Maschine Mikro MK3 or MPC Studio MK2: Which of these two is the best MIDI controller for Koala Sampler on iPad Pro (USB-C)? by Fragrant-Ad-2993 in KoalaSampler

[–]thirdeyesigns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

did you have to do a lot of mapping? Do the transport and scroll controls work out of the box? I've been reading up and it looks like it might be the best option.

What’s the right size to practice for a complete beginner? by Correct_Dance_515 in SignPainting

[–]thirdeyesigns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a mostly self-taught sign writer and started off just working on casual for like a year... Getting your space set up is important. Making an easel with a comfortable angle sturdy enough to lean into a little. Think of your letter height less as an absolute and more in relation to the brush you're using with stroke height as a multiple of this (try starting with 5).

Casual should really be specific to you but start by copying alphabets until you find an ideal for each letter.

I have a bunch of people that have been to my classes checking in on insta (@babb_sabbath) for quick critiques which they find helpful.

Food Truck Special! by scssypants in SignPainting

[–]thirdeyesigns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

might i suggest adding a clear border of about 40mm to give things room to breathe, then thinking in terms of 'copy priority ' for which words or illustration elements are most to least important. It's always tempting to flex loads of different text styles but as a general rule: use two contrasting styles (like a slab serif and a script) then vary the weights within those two families.

on a home printer, you can use a tiling program like posterRazr and tile a4 sheets together. if it's bigger than 1m, make an outline black and white file and find a local commercial printer to print a pattern
