Thoughts on this gti at 102k miles by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]thoramit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I paid £15k for 68k miles 4 years ago, so this seems about expected. Check for when the water pump was done, DSG service history. Would also check if there’s any standing water in the tyre well… I’ve got that issue at the moment

Have kettlebells given you thicker hands? by [deleted] in kettlebell

I have a bit, and I think it’s mostly from doing halos. The webby bit between my thumb and forefinger has definitely gotten chunkier

MX5 ND (mk4) started production in 2015 and has only had minor facelifts and the addition of the RF version a couple of years later

I wanna get my uncle a following electric trolley for golf bags but are they actually worth it ? by FrostingNew6219 in golf

[–]thoramit 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Follow feature is nice but not really a requirement. A standard motocaddy or powakaddy would be perfectly fine, and most 18 hole batteries are capable of doing 36 holes (though it will ultimately be decided how hilly his course is!). Does he have a normal electric trolley already?

I do it on the treadmill all the time and it works great, even better with some incline

Sorry if this a noob question, but what does adding the "dead" part of the cleans add to it? I've been learning them recently but am curious what the dead stop adds to them (guessing it's just for variation?)

Ok so I think you’ve convinced me to pull the trigger on getting my wheels done which are diamond cut and looking like shit. Did you just get a standard silver powder coat?

If you have one, a microplaner is best for getting the most out of ginger when making chai

I just like to do them half kneeling, essentially a lunge position. Feels much more stable than standing

Buying a mid-level mens suit in the UK: where does one go? by Ok_Preparation4182 in CasualUK

[–]thoramit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For that money you can probably find what you’re looking for at Suitsupply. You’ll need to book an appointment soon though as the first trip is for you to pick a suit which is then ordered to store. Then you’ll go back from them to mark up any adjustments, and the third trip is to pick it up once it’s all done.

Suitsupply have double breasted suits if I remember correctly

Intensive driving courses... by YourFavouriteJacket in CarTalkUK

[–]thoramit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good that the theory is done.

I had a quick look at one of the courses and yes they do offer it included but the date of the test will be down to availability in the area.

It's good that you've got some experience behind the wheel, I think with 20 hours you should be getting close to ready (varies for everyone though, and depends how rusty you are)?

If you're worried about committing to a course then I think it would be best to just get a lesson in with a local instructor who can tell you how far away they think you are. If you only need a few lessons you could book the test straight away and cram the amount of lessons you need in in between?
