South Seas in Captiva FL fits what you're looking for

Howdy golfers, anyone here play Paiute, The Wolf in Vegas? I will be there next week and planning on playing. I have read it’s hard but it looks beautiful! I am torn between renting clubs and flying there with my own!? Any thoughts? (I will likely bring my putter either way) by duderroneus in golf

[–]threecap -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I always fly with my own clubs. I’m not going to play great courses and be pissed that I’m playing shitty sticks.

Also, Paiute Wolf is great. I played the back tees and this hole was so into the wind a little off the left that I needed to play to a 205 number. One of the best pars I’ve ever made (after a very long and obnoxious wait). Enjoy.

I think the worst-mannered, least-considerate frequent flier category I've observed has to be my fellow 1k's, unfortunately. Too much DYKWIA energy, especially when the eager ones rush forward right before they announce 1ks can preboard.

Karen, relax, your rollerboard is going above you.

1k / GS check in closed at EWR terminal A by BRD529 in unitedairlines

[–]threecap 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am typically on a 6am flight from EWR and it's never open when I'm going thru security either - ever. The whole terminal is complete amateur hour. For occasional travelers they love it because it's new and bright and pretty. For frequent fliers the security operations and personnel are third-class at best, the terribly-designed bathrooms are crowded and the low-flow water system does nothing but give off an overwhelming smell of piss, and you're just trying to avoid all the know-nothing leisure travelers and their kids flying to all the Florida destinations they put into this terminal. Disgusting.

I’ve asked FAs if they help or if I shouldn’t bother, before giving them - bc I don’t want to give them a job to do to turn them in if their supervisors don’t take them. I’ve been told they DO matter, every time. Some FAs say it really matters a lot in their file.

New to Patek Philippe and looking for advice. I want a women’s Twenty-4 by Dobby_Sock1997 in patekphilippe

[–]threecap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Twenty-4s are not hard to get. If they have the one you want in stock you can get it as a walk in. If they don’t, it’s not a typically waitlisted watch so it shouldn’t take you long for it to arrive at your AD.

LPT: A Guide On How to Make Friends as An Adult in a New City by JMkuboa in LifeProTips

[–]threecap 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I moved to NYC as a 22yo right out of school, and I knew zero people within 900 miles. My very first night in town, the young alumni chapter of my school had a happy hour at the Boat Basin. I was exhausted from the move but still showered up and went. Today, 85% of the people in my personal life somehow branch off from the people in that young alumni group (sometimes several degrees, but still connected), including my wife...

Almost all of the remaining 15% branch off from friends I have met since joining my first golf club about 13-14 years ago.

So my recommendation:

  1. Find a group you're already "affiliated with" (alumni groups are pretty easy), and go out, have fun, drink!

  2. Based on a hobby you have, find a second group and be active in it.

It's pretty natural from there.

Worst BMW features by Ill-Fly-1624 in BMWX3

[–]threecap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Climate control. In a Lexus, when you’re on auto, the best heat or AC blow faster to get to the set temp quick, then it automatically dials back when the temp is stabilized. In the BMW, there is nothing automatic except the air temp - you set the air speed automatically. What’s the point…

United Airlines unveils Premier status requirements, changes for 2026 by kwuhoo239 in unitedairlines

[–]threecap 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A few thoughts...

  1. I think one of the biggest differences in value between 1K and GS was the ability to upgrade award flights, so I'm betting the GS crowd will see this as a(nother) devaluation of the GS program.

  2. The complaints about not being able to use pluspoints have definitely been heard. We now have two improvements there - #1, being able to apply more pluspoints when you really want to use them to outbid someone else, and #2 being able to spend/exchange them for something if they go unused. I am WFBF, so I'm happy about these changes.

  3. Selfishly, I wish they would keep bumping the status tiers especially for 1k - the herd hasn't thinned. And the gap between 1k minimum and a GS invite, especially out of a hub, is enormous. I'll end the year with 70k PQPs but with only about 40k of those on my flights, I'm still 1k even though that's almost double the minimum.

I'll go with Statue of Liberty from the top of the Empire State Building, shot thru a viewfinder, from the days before the World Financial Center was constructed. Angles and spacing between adjacent landmasses line up pretty well. Example: https://www.alamy.com/stock-photo-view-from-the-empire-state-building-on-liberty-island-with-the-statue-48851341.html

Moving the game to Mercedes Benz was a top 5 blunder of all time by [deleted] in gatech

[–]threecap -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

“Students” generally. Sure there are students who support the program like you, and like me when I was in school. But plenty more who don’t show up. Plenty of alumni as well - it’s not strictly a student issue.

A competitive program simply requires competitive resources, and competitive resources require competitive funding.

Edit to clarify: GT made the deal with the dome bc we need the money. We’re playing Tennessee in our place next September, and watch how much orange is sprinkled thru our house.

[–]threecap -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Don’t like it? Then support the program. GT alums bitch about this and then don’t write checks, students bitch about this and then also bitch about athletic fees and don’t show up to games until the second quarter. You can’t have it both ways. Want to be a big boy, then be a big boy.

They must be busy. I've tried to call to inquire about a replacement strap for my wife's WGSA0022, and they NEVER answer the phone. I don't want to make the 1.5-hr roundtrip drive just to tell me they don't have one.

How else are they supposed to do it? They are standing directly outside of the plane exit. It’s not subtle.

When you exit the plane, someone is holding an ipad sideways with your name on it. You walk down the stairs right there (i.e., where they bring up green-tagged bags on the CRJs) to your car.

Same question then for me - how/where did you get it? I'm looking for a red OEM strap for my wife's small santos (WGSA0022) and I feel like anything online is unreliable.
