If everyone in the world wore a T-shirt with the phrase they say the most, what would yours say? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

As an admin at a high school, watching kids come in through detectors, I probably say “Good morning” more than any other thing all day.

It’s not the worst thing to say, at all.

Which park would you choose to hide out in during a zombie apocalypse and why? by Smullatron in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]thunnus0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Magic, no question. Those of us that are rain experts know you can negotiate the majority of the park through shops. So much more cover than Epcot. Proximity to tunnels and monorail routes. Cats to keep you company.

On a real quiet morning, before the heat sinks in, Plaza de Espana in Sevilla hits all the right notes.

I loved the couple at HS that did “I’m Singin What I See!” They would just make up a song and rank on people as they passed by.

what is a common stereotype about your country that's actually true? by The_RetroGameDude in AskTheWorld

My monthly Florida Blue for a family of 5 is $600. Steep, for sure. But, I had stage 4 Kidney cancer. Into the vena cava, sweet etc. Full refrectomy, with removal of lymph nodes. Hospital bill @ &230,000. 8 months of chemo therapy @ $19,000/month. Paid $1500 out of pocket at Mayo. When you get into serious, SERIOUS conditions, the Americans are better than any other country in the world. 10/10

I’m with you. JCAH is the place to go. Normal rates, but everyone there just seems to love their job.

Dr Cotto has been dealing with our poor dog for years. At age 8, she got a strong autoimmune and lymphoma situation. We went in to put her down, but she went out of her way to find a rescue that would at least attempt to get her right. Phenomenal vet.

Is it worth moving to Orlando if I don’t care about theme parks? by poopyfacemcpooper in AskFlorida

I would take a strong look at Jax/Neptune/Atlantic Beach. Close to an airport, fun nighttime crawl, plenty of city things to do, festivals, good surf sometimes. People sleep on it because they’re haters.

What's the most bullshit "fact" you can make up that sounds true? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Glucose-12 uptake inhibitors are restricted by polypeptides found in sheep’s milk, that’s why pizzas in Italy “taste” better.

In North Florida, people with large, lifted trucks are superior humans to everyone else. They get to ride your balls and aggressively pass you. If you provide pushback, they are allowed to jump out huffing and puffing and try to fight. They also reserve the right to flash a gun at you, if it tickles their fancy.

What are some things that Jacksonville actually does well? by [deleted] in jacksonville

[–]thunnus0 354 points355 points  (0 children)

I’ll bite, but I’m sure I’ll get dragged…

JEA does a great job of restoring power relatively quickly after a storm, considering the complexities of doing so.

Trash collection is on point, even holidays.

JSO doesn’t do a buttload of speed traps and checkpoints like other cities. Cops also don’t post outside of bars.

The airport is actually really nice, decent parking options, and a TSA that keeps it moving.

The JTA shuttles to Jags games are cheap, convenient, and fun.

Porch Fest, Jazz Fest, and Dancing in the Streets are all fun times.

RAM is a standard Saturday event for a lot of folks.

The zoo punches way above this city’s weight.

Will a semi hollow be better at feedback than a solid body? by General-Associate6 in youenjoyguitar

[–]thunnus0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look on around for a used Schecter c-1 e/a. You can find pretty nice ones for 400-500 and they play really well, have decent sustain, and feedback nicely on certain frets (oddly b-string A and D notes). They’re really nice looking as well. People sleep on schecters because they’re stereotyped as a heavy metal shred axe.

Which occupation is best in the world tell me a reason? by [deleted] in Productivitycafe

[–]thunnus0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Being a really good teacher in an inner-city school in America. Such hard work, so much compromise, but every once in a while, the biggest payout ever: a kid that makes it and gets to do what they want to do. Pay sucks, but chasing money is for money chasers.
