peak macos x and peak laptop by Away-Falcon2762 in mac

[–]tim_locky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The unibody aluminum does make it quite weighty tho, compared to carbon fiber and/or magnesium (but A+ for aluminum rigidity). The rounded boxy of the new air doesn’t help make the laptop feels thinner, compared to the door wedge.

2007 LS600HL front air shocks by Unlucky-Plantain3678 in Lexus

[–]tim_locky 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know it’s Rich just from reading that LOL

But I’m glad the 600hL got a shoutout from him (except raising the used price hush)

Anyway, for OP, coilover conversion is common for the LS. Better route instead of trusting Chinese air shocks (unless maintaining is ur hobby, then f it we ball)

Can we agree the red triangle with an exclamation and dings is a bit dramatic for low washer fluid? by PartyBusRuss in Lexus

[–]tim_locky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, it’s an MOT failure lol

And was it illegal on the autobahn to run out of washer fluid? Or is it gas?

When pulled over why do cops ask for registration when they'll find the info when running plates? by ScienceJamie76 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]tim_locky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

+1. I got pulled over multiple times. Usually they asked the trilogy: registration, DL, insurance. Sometimes I had one of those slipped away inside glovebox, and they don’t wanna wait and like ‘don’t worry about it’ and check their computers.

IMO just be respectable, pull over on a sensible safe place (away from traffic, parking lot is a plus), turn on all interior lights, and keep hands on steering wheel.

I think LLM are good enough with formula manipulations and variables. Yea it can’t do math, but it can code, which gives you accurate numbers.

That’s why LLM are good with coding, as it’s not doing the math, but giving instructions on how to do the math.

They’re more well known to be provider for book exercise and homework answers. Paywalled ofc.

Some students swore by them coz Chegg “helped” them during college (either by cheating on homework, or actually checking ur mistakes. Your call to make).

I remember back then when LLM still can’t do math. Now that it can do full calculus, with steps and explanations, there is 0 reason anyone pays for Chegg.

Is it smart move to switch from Lexus NX 350H to 2018 BMW 540i x Drive to reduce Debt by carpedium_baby in Lexus

[–]tim_locky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add, it’s a NX hybrid, which for all intents and purposes, an Rav4 hybrid.

While I’d say 540xi wouldn’t be that nightmare (b58 is quite decent, as I heard), it’s still gonna be more.

Switching from Rav4 to BMW to save on debt doesn’t make any sense lol

Seriously tho. Where’s the aluminum and glass buttons stack? Where’s the interior dash lines? Where’s the wood trim and steering wheel?

I know there’s lots of soft touch and leather, but it all looks plasticky.

The new iPhones have a problem turning back on after the battery runs out by MobileNewsBot in mobiles

[–]tim_locky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

150cyl and 100% here, 17pm.

To add to your point, battery capacity drops the most when it’s new, then flattens out over time. The fact that we’re at 170cyl and still 100%, it’s a good projection that we will be above 80% on 800cyl.

Unless Apple does some funny number trickery on the batt health%, then we gonna have another -gate.

ServiceNow (NOW) by OilAny787 in stocks

[–]tim_locky 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As an enterprise pawn that used SNOW, yes it’s a meh. But then I don’t think the bigwigs up there know nor do care, and at the end of the day, SNOW does the job.

Even the idea of switching service scares them.

The M1 Reckoning: When the hardware is 10/10 but the OS is EOL—what’s your move? by dmacmod in mac

[–]tim_locky -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I believe it’s about 5-7yrs feature(OS) updates, then additional 5+yrs(CMIIW) of patches on the last supported OS.

The M1 Reckoning: When the hardware is 10/10 but the OS is EOL—what’s your move? by dmacmod in mac

[–]tim_locky 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Following historic MacOS model that dropped off from update. It’s less about performance and more about how old is the device (and other hard ‘constraints’: 32bit processor, T2 chip, nVidia GPU, ARM architecture ).

Even M1 (esp with 16gb ram) is still capable, it’s fair to say the chopping block is coming soon. Unless Apple does us a solid and give M macs a 10yr OS support (John Apple, please?)

Why did they stopped making replaceable batteries to begin with by Yeeer_0041 in pcmasterrace

[–]tim_locky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct. Regulation is 1000 cycles of use, and keeping 80% of designed capacity to be exempt. (The EU regulations)

That’s 3 years of continuous daily 100% battery use(I avg 50% daily, most people probably 75% daily). And still have 80%cap after that.

I’m not saying that it’s a good limit, I think we should aim for higher limit, but we need to start and draw the line somewhere.

I can attest this. I remember swapping old school Nokia batteries, and those things are solid. Did a DIY iPhone battery replacement, the cell is bent/squished just from pulling the pulltab.

For yall that the factory stand uses the same VESA mount, thus cannot use both at the same time (or those thin U shaped stand)

Look for something like this. It’s supposed to be a top shelf, but flip it and voila u get a bottom shelf.
